I didn't ask him anything at all about DNA. I asked him to provide evidence that a God exists and he went off into a speech about DNA, indicating only that he didn't read the question.

I know. But I think he thinks that DNA itself *is* evidence. So I think he thinks he is answering your question and providing evidence. I could be wrong of course, that's just my interpretation.

@Brandon9000,
If you forget the past, and simply look to the future, you can easily see the day when humanity will take life to another planet or moon nearby. Now this life will not include cattle and corn that we could use for food, as there is no air of soil. What we will be trying to introduce, would be simple photosynthetic plants such as planktons that would create both sugar and Oxygen from sunlight, just as the Mars rover creates electricity from sunlight. So these life forms being simple, would still undergo evolution and would in your opinions obviously become more complex. If you say that there is no evidence of this you would be correct, but the evidence of this is equal to evolution springing from a warm pond.....However, leaving the Earth is a must do for humanity to continue existing after a point, thus it will be achieved, given time.

@Setanta,
You have just demonstrated that you do not know what air or soil are.

So I will educate you, air is composed of Nitrogen -- N2 -- 78.084%

Oxygen -- O2 -- 20.9476%

Argon -- Ar -- 0.934%

Carbon Dioxide -- CO2 -- 0.0314%

Neon -- Ne -- 0.001818%

Methane -- CH4 -- 0.0002%

Helium -- He -- 0.000524%

Krypton -- Kr -- 0.000114%

Hydrogen -- H2 -- 0.00005%

Xenon -- Xe -- 0.0000087%
And soil is defined as.
1.

the portion of the earth's surface consisting of disintegrated rock and humus.

2.

a particular kind of earth:
"sandy soil."

3.

the ground as producing vegetation or as cultivated for its crops:
"fertile soil."

4.

a country, land, or region:
"an act committed on American soil."

5.

the ground or earth:
"tilling the soil."

6.

any place or condition providing the opportunity for growth or development:

@DNA Thumbs drive,
You have just demonstrated how narrow and idiotic your point of view is. Your list is a list of the components of the atmosphere of this planet. Obviously, on Mars, the components of the atmosphere will be different. Obviously, the components of the soil of Mars will be different. That does not mean there there is no air or soil on Mars.

Loon.

@Setanta,
OMG, air is the definition of the lower atmosphere on the Earth, are you really this dense, or are you just trying to be funny

The atmosphere of Mars contains no air.

@DNA Thumbs drive,
all the unconsolidated material (clay, silt, sand,water borne sediment, pebbles etc) that lies above bedrock of a planet is called REGOLITH (on earth or Mars). The part of the regolith that can support plant life is called SOIL (a term that , so far, is only used for our planets regolith). (This definition is non-negotiable because its the "official one" of the AGI

Air is unique to earth so far but, according to definitions of air is a chemical mixture of gases (not merely earths atmosphere). So, if a planet's atmosphere has significant oxygen to be reactive, that planet's atmosphere could also be called air.

as I said, the definition is non negotiable, so if you've got another one its a fairy story(sorta like... never mind)

@DNA Thumbs drive,
Are you so f*cking dense that you don't realize that you are applying a local, plantetary definition to Mars? Are you so f*cking dense that you don't realize that that is a description of an average gaseous profile of our atmosphere? Are you so f*cking dense as not to realize that there are variations all over the planet?

I'd say that either you are one of the stupidest people ever to post on these topics here, or, as FBM suggests, you're just a f*cking troll.

So you decide what definitions of words are.

That is good to know.

@DNA Thumbs drive,
no, I said that it was the official definition presented by the American Geophysical Union and The American Geological Institute. These definitions are peer reviewed for preciseness and conciseness. You were all over the place and "sorta" rounded the block. Soil is easily defined in one sentence .

Soil is that part of the regolith that can support plant life PERIOD

@DNA Thumbs drive,
definitions are what definitions are. Has nothing to do with "Corn on MARS"

If you have to argue with someone I can give you the number of the AGI nomenclature committee.

ALSO, while you were posting away, I also looked at the definition for Soil and air from the ASTM (which is the American Society for Testing nd Materials), pretty much the same.

You should just move on and put this behind you. Don't become Frank Apisa

Can you delve more deeply into your views of air and soil on Mars?

Well of course if you define air to mean the exact chemical composition of Earth's atmosphere, then you won't find it on other planets. So what?

You are really starting to be annoying. I think you just want to argue, because if you think people are sitting back with a shocked look on their face telling themselves, wow, this guy is really smart, you are desperately delusional. Get a grip, man!
