I hope I didn't come across as poking. I guess what I was trying to say is that sometimes people leave (when what they really want to do is stay), simply to make an impression...that's all.

I think it's a natural question from a poster who doesn't know that squinney was a much loved member here as well. Germlat is treating it as if she's an unknown entity, which she's definitely not, and offering what may be supportive advice. It's off the mark, but only because we know better.
For how long at a time...just enough to elicit a response? Or for longer?

I don't think germlat is being anything but curious and I also don't know what JPB means by off the mark because we know better since he/she doesn't seem to be denigrating either squinney or me.
that squinney might be just trying to get your attention is off the mark. It's not denigrating to either of you, just not on the mark.
