Panzade, a question please.........my nephew came for the weekend (from Bath) my sister took him to Johnny Roadhouse in Manchester (yes it's still there) to buy a new guitar for xmas. He came back with something that he called a 'semi-electric'. Unable to question further (he's 17, seriously greasy hair, practices stairway constantly and smirks if we try and talk Bands or guitar.........ahh, the arrogance of youth). What's the difference between semi-electric and semi-accoustic? You know the song Summer of 69....has sings Got my first real 6 string....do other guitars have more than six? 'Scuse my ignorance....I'd really like to know, if only to impress my nephew.

allison kicks ass. nothing "virtuoso" ala eddie, but man, for stripped down rockin', wow ! same thing with the rest of the band.
i told my wife that it's embarassing that a group of young girls just beats the pants off of most of the guys out there these days. talk about energy!

I honestly don't know...unless the acoustic guitar has a booster/equalizer in it that is powered by batteries. Perhaps someone will fill us in on this term.
There are many different numbers of strings on various guitars...the most popular are 6 and 12 strings.
Thanks anyway Panzade

hi sarah. it could be that what he's referring to is what we call in america a semi-hollow bodied electric. that would be something like the type of guitar you'd have seen b.b.king, alvin lee or ian gallagher from oasis use a lot. gibson, guild and fender make several models. right now, i notice a lot of younger guys using the models made by epiphone.
There ya go...being an ol' fart I just wasn't up on that stuff.
BTW it looks like Allison is playing my very own '71 Custom Les Paul
nice box ! sun or honeyburst ? yep, looks like she really digs playin' beyond the simple rock star thing. i've noticed that she seems to have a pretty good collection of all types of gibsons.
and thanx for the great pick. awww, ain't they cute ??
hmmm.... my favorite ' lift ya up tunes'
Slayer, anything from seasons in the abyss. It ismore about Lombardo's drumming then anything else.
almost any Testament album.
Capricaille , Jewel, some older anthrax, misfits, hmm.. OH yes.. How could i forget.
I used to be a hair band junkie. ya know , poison, motley crue.. yada yada yada.
those bands usually make take the edge off of any stress I have just by looking at thier hair-dos and make up jobs. Oh man what a hoot! Still love 'em though . ;-)
depends on what type of " bad time" I'm having... if im angry then I love to listen to seplatura... if I'm sad then anything by staind, audioslave, alice in chains... the heavy thrash metal music always helps me get my anger out, and for some reason listening to someone else sing about there own " bad times"makes me feel 100% better... or I'll listen to grunt truck cause its just cool to hear a band thats old skool.
Get Up, Stand Up - Bob Marley
Step Up to the Microphone - Newsboys
The whole album!
Social Distortion - Cold Feelings (among others)
Velvet Underground - Loaded
James Brown - ANYTHING
The Frogs
Poor Twisted Me by Metallica...I'm not kidding, it makes me ashamed of my wallowing in self pity...
But I don't listen to it until I've finished the mud bath, lol...
Bohemian Like You - The Dandy Warhols
John Lee Hooker - for some reason
Now there's a strange choice to my ears. Although Hooker's blues has a lot more bounce and boogie than say....Charley Patton.
Here's my uplifting Joh Lee tune:
DON'T LOOK BACK
Don't look back to the days of yesteryear,
You cannot live on in the past,
Don't look back.
And i've known so many people
That still try to live on in the past,
Don't look back, oh no.
And if i could call back all those days of yesteryear,
I would never grow old and i'd never be poor,
But darlin', those days are gone, oh yeah.
Stop dreaming
And live on in the future,
But darlin', don't look back, oh no,
Don't look back, oh ?
Van Morrison did a great version when he led the band Them
