I love songs that begin with quiet, hypnotic arrangements that suddenly explode with furious intensity...

Sounds like Isaac Hayes' very unique and conceptual version of "Something".

There is something to be said for miserable music to uplift you. It's like, "heh heh, suckers...yer worse off than me."

I like to listen to Areosmith, or Queen. They both are really good bands and they really seem to cheer me up. And if that doesn't work I'll make up my own song, or sing a song that pops into my head first.

Bob Marley songs always lift me up. But sometimes they're just to cheery and make me feel like i should be more upset than i am after I hear them. Pink Floyd seems to help, especially the song 'money'. and led zeppelins houses of the holy also is good to make you feel better. The best of all for me is make yourself by incubus. that album is excelent from start to finish.
