Here's a little more on the activities of the radical right.

Anyone familiar with my posts knows I am an avid Howard Dean supporter. Nevertheless I find repugnant what the right wing media is trying to do to Wesley Clarke:

Despite new information, a number of conservative pundits
continue to spin the widely-debunked story of a phone call
Democratic presidential hopeful General Wesley Clark says he
received shortly after Sept. 11.

Merely the beginning. This election seems likely to get as ugly as any in my lifetime.

He terrifies them, hor-hay. And he should.

This sewer busted open right here on A2K two weeks ago.

Rush "Pilonidal Cyst" Limbaugh spent most of his airtime last week trying to sully a four-times-wounded-in-Nam four-star General.

'Disgraceful' and 'despicable' don't even accurately describe it.

The Republicans force decent people to invent new words for their atrociousness.

PD

In fairness, I think we ought to differentiate the Coulters and Limbaughs and traditionalists such as our george. On the other hand, we can justifiably take folks like george to task for any support they might offer to the ugly party members.

Those attempting to deify Clark, or any other political candidate will be disappointed.

A General's uniform, nor a war wound, dismisses one from criticism. A President is not above critical analysis--surely no candidate for President is, either.

Let them all answer for their choices and behavior.

Sofia, I differentiate between "answering for their choices" and gossip mongering for the sole purpose of discrediting any candidate who looks competitive. I know, it's done on both sides to some degree. But it's the stealth methods of the fanatical right wing since the late 80s and early 90s that have taken politics over the edge into smutville. Even politics has it's ethical limits, or in my opinion should have. And I don't mean in the way Bill Bennett speaks of ethics and moral responsibility. But simply a line over which a political campaign should not cross. Over this line good politics transforms into criminal deception. The tactics being used by the Republican party at this time are way over the line, IMO. They look for anything and then use their machine to blow it out of proportion. They use ultra-conservative churches and advertising techniques, as well as the Limbaughs and Coulters who exaggerate purposefully. I intend to continue to demonstrate this as I do my research.

Yes, BillW.............the VRWC, but I would change it's name to:

A Vast fanatical Right Wing Coordinated Plan Involving a group of cooperating people and organizations which have become a machine

so........how about this:

A Vast Fanatical Right Wing Machine VFRWM, surely there's something we can devise that spells something.........thinking....

Sure, its a cheapshot, silly, mean, and derisively partisan. I also expect rebuttal-in-kind. The Left is good at poor taste and agenda-serving over-simplification, too ... prolly even better at it.

Hey, hobitbob, I freely acknowledge that as a puerile, insulting cheapshot, and admit it derives from the wingnut fringe of The Right. I submit, however, there is no mainstream Republican counterpart, at least as yet, to the scurilous, inflamatory, and visciously partisan, explicitly institutionalized attacks by The Democratic Party and its leading spokespersons directed toward the Current Administration.

Thankfully, you have finally come around to our way of thinking!!
Welcome to the GOP!!! Get your party hat at the door!!! Do you have any black friends you can bring?

As BillW does, I agree with Timber, as well.

timber, just to begin with (there aren't enough hours left until election day for an exhaustive list) the Repubs have their own mainstream TV channel (not to mention the cable outlets) ..............

We've sorta had this discussion before, Bill ... I submit the media merely provide the public with what the public willingly pays for. I find it notable the only decidedly Liberal national broadcast forums are NPR and PBS ... neither of which have any need to attract viewers who will patronize sponsors. If there were a market for the Liberal Viewpoint, that market would be catered to, as an economic consideration wholly apart from ideologic concern. Now, markets are notoriously fickle, but The Democrats just ain't sellin' at the moment.

Fox is owned and paid for by the Right and will never be left, it is a trend that to mine eyes - appears very distrubing. The Right wing methodologies are extremely disingenuous - the left has not Limbaugh, no DeLay, no Federalist Society, no Fox.

Do we say, they better get one, or aren't they great to remain above the fray Question Currently, I have to say that they have the moral high ground (about 15 years now) but, maybe they need to do some changing Exclamation Unfortunately, I see sad days for America because Republicans remain committed to be ruled by their radical, extremist wing and are making it imperative that the Left follow in due course.
