Busy day in history today:

1935 -- The Nuremberg Laws, depriving German Jews of their citizenship, are adopted.

1950 -- U.N. forces land at Inchon, So. Korea, and start the drive toward Seoul, herding the No. Korean invaders toward the 38th Parallel.

1972 -- A Federal grand jury indicts seven men in connection with the break-in at the Democratic campaign HQ in the Watergate complex in Washington, D.C.

I'm sure a few other things happened, too. Fell free to add them here. Smile

@saab,
Yeah, but then that crazy Karl XII lost it all to Czar Peter I ("the Great") in the Great Northern War of the early 18th Century. From then on, Livonia and all the Baltic states and peoples were part of the Russian Czarist empire until 1917.

1857 -- the song "Jingle Bells" copyrighted by James Pierpont under its original title "One Horse Open Sleigh."
