Ex-police officer indicted on murder charge in 2013 shooting

FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) — A former Fairfax County police officer who shot and killed an unarmed man as he stood just inside his front door with his hands up in 2013 was indicted Monday on a second-degree murder charge, authorities said Monday.

A special grand jury convened by Commonwealth's Attorney Raymond Morrogh returned the indictment against Adam Torres, 32, in the shooting death of John Geer of Springfield, northern Virginia.

Torres fatally shot Geer, 46, in August 2013 after a report of a domestic dispute. Witnesses, including other officers, said Geer was unarmed and had his hands up when he was shot.

Michael Lieberman, an attorney for Geer's family, said the indictment is "a substantial step toward justice for John Geer. A Fairfax County jury will now be able to determine what's fair and just, which is all the family wanted."

The reason you attack Black Lives Matter is because its a threat to the white privilege you enjoy. Be honest for once.

Ever seen a programme called Cops? It's amazing what sort of people can become police officers in America. 70% wouldn't even pass basic fitness tests, and when they start talking, it's like Cletus from the Simpsons.

I wouldn't trust them to empty the bins.

Our police force really is the best in the World, and it's pretty crap.

Ok, so where are YOU getting facts from if your not even looking at the news that talks about Black Lives Matter, which is the same news that talks about cop brutality in America? You watch the tv show cops? There is also judge Judy, Judge Mathis, Jerry Springer, Murray, and about 500 other "reality" TV shows you can watch.

What is white privilege? I work side by side with blacks every day, doing the same job, making the same 25,000 a year on a towboat. 1/4 of my neighbors are black, and we all have the same black president. What privilege do you THINK I have from your observations from England?

Ya but you get easier work assignments. and if you claim that you dont then you have been getting by easier as a white for so long that you dont even recognize that you have it better than blacks anymore, which just goes to show how ingrained white privilege is.

That is what you will get told. These assholes have an excuse for everything, including disregarding anything that you have to say since you refuse to follow the script.

You want to talk like you know all about "white privilege" or racist cops in America even though your in England, but hide behind being a foreigner when your ignorant about Black Lives Matter. You don't live in it, you don't deal with it, and you obviously don't understand the problems in my country.

When the statistics show white males getting killed and/or shot roughly at the same rate as black males by cops, then perhaps you may have a point about there being no white privilege in the US. That in a nutshell is what the black lives matters is all about. It is the social injustice blacks and minorities face in the justice system which has been largely ignored rather than addressed until recently.

What social injustice? The fact that thugs like Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown are not allowed to rob and kill people is hardly an injustice.

If you want injustice, spare a thought for the poor store owners who had their livelihoods destroyed because no one is willing to gun down these rioting thugs.
