Ha ha- Is that the best you can do. My reference to the Mayo Clinic was to show that the Socialist Medical System in Canada is a broken down wreck.
I would expect nothing but the best from a country that has so many know it alls telling the USA what to do.

Nah - we, like Candia, can do heaps better.

Instant, free, med assistance for everyone for life-threatening stuff.

Free help for moderate stuff - for rich and poor alike.

Sadly, for the non-life threatening stuff, the rich still do better under "socialism".

You oughta be happy re this?

Really? Is that why you have patched trousers and worn out sweaters in Australia.? Your GDP is really a disgrace. According to Paul Kennedy in his book-"Preparing for the Twenty Fifth Century" P. 252, Australia has a GDP per person of $11,728 while the USA has A GDP of $17,615 per person. If you are really nice to us, we might send you some aid packages.

Lol! I love having you to play with Mporter. You're like my very own stroppy, bitey dwarf, to tease and provoke.

I refer to your avatar, of course!

Now - please DO fall on your sword over the mis-spelling.

As I recall, you waxed quite contemptuous of Blatham when he made a spelling mistake.

And Ms. or Mrs. Dlowan, as the case may be. You must really forgive me for making a typing error. It is totally my fault. I am not so insecure that I cannot admit to making a typing error. Some, like the ex-elementary school master <Mr. Blatham, are so insecure and lacking in self-esteem, that they call people liars and denigrate their research even though it is they who have made the mistake.

Mr. Blatham, the omniscient one, said, on May 14th on a post--"Well since you reference a Time issue which apparently does not exist".
It does and I proved it but Mr. Blatham is apparently so lacking in manners that he has not seen fit to acknowledge his egregious error and apologize to me.

On the other hand, I aplologize to you for my spelling error.

PS, I highly recommend the book I referenced by Paul Kennedy. It is a good read. It also indicates that the life expectancy in Australia is 76 years, as is the life expectancy in the USA which has many many more recent immigrants. I don't think that can be characterized as "heaps better" as you claim.

I fell on my sword but hit you in the backside with Kennedy's data.

No comments about the GDP and life expectancy tables? Typical! Avoid evidence and proceed with meaningless small talk.

Oh my! You DID fall on your sword!

Now - may I suggest Charles Dickens' "David Copperfield" to you re Blatham and the Time magazine thing.

I refer you to "King Charles' Head" - a sad blemish upon an otherwise excellent character - and the cause of great distress to the excellent gentleman concerned.

(edited for spelling error - lol!)

Oh, meaningless? How cruel!!! You see, I love persiflage - it is my passion.

Surely you shall not deny to me my simple pleasures!

Re Kennedy - I do not, of course, dispute you - because I have no intention of reading your Mr Kennedy - though I note you have not responded to MY Mr Kennedy comments, earlier - but are we sure we are comparing percentages of immigrants? You know, with such a large population as yours, absolute numbers may be considered as obviously greater.

Please let me know when you have the info - I am mildly curious.

mporter quoted "Tarantulas- They say that Patriotism is the last refuge of Scoundrels."

Can this be the wisest quotation for a regular supporter of the President? Especially he who festoons his every photo opportunity with so many images of the 'Stars And Stripes'?

I am sorry but I don't read Charles Dickens. I find his books interminable and they read like stories that have been written by someone with deadlines to meet.

Please do not obfuscate, Ms. Dlowan. I will repeat.

Australia's GDP is puny compared to the GDP of the USA. Respond to that.

The life expectancy in Australia and the US is the same- 76. respond to that. You did say We can do heaps better" Hardly-------76 equals 76.

Don't obfuscate. I made two points. GDP and life expectancy. If you can't respond to them, go back to reading David Copperfield.

And, I am afraid that you misunderstand me concerning Mr. Blatham. I do not know and do not care, as you do not care about Mr. Kennedy, about King Charles Head. Whatever that is about cannot, by any stretch of the imagination, be similar to the blowhard omnscience of the elementary school marm' who is never wrong and who knows all there is about the USA.

I know, and admit that I know very little about Australia. If I make comments about Australia, they are based on data such as the data I picked up from Kennedy's book.

Mr. Blatham is so pompous that he thinks that he can, off the top of his head, understand a country which has ten times more inhabitants than his frozen tundra.

I don't think that you understand my focus, Ms. Dlowan. I care little for small talk or useless commentary. I choose to focus on what I feel is imporatant. On Nov. 2nd 2004, there will be an election for President. If President Bush is re-elected, you could write two or three million "cute" posts after that, and I wouldn't give a damn.

Do you mean "cute" in the old Yankee (as in Mark Twain) sense of "acute" and clever - or in the modern, fluffier sense?

Archbishop- I am sure that you are aware that the comment-"Patriotism is the last refuge of scoundrels" was made by the great Dr. Johnson.

You may also be aware that his biographer, Boswell, indicated that Johnson was not against true patriotism, just false patriotism.

I refer you to Boswell's Biography for reference.

You aren't trying to say that President George W. Bush is not a true patriot are you?

If you are, I would respectfully demand some evidence.

Ms. Dlowan: You must forgive me for not responding but I really feel that my responses to Archbishop are much more worth my while since they are substantive.

Cheers!!!
