The woman with the handle of Firefly for daring to take such a position then asked me if I did in fact trade child porn myself.

I make a clearly sarcastic statement back to her Yes, I trade child porn with Federal Judges.

I always wondered where this came from. Yes, firefly lies constantly. It's really quite sad. She makes straw man arguments (Straw man is a rhetorical technique (also classified as a logical fallacy) based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position) about members she doesn't like, but when she's proven wrong refuses to admit her mistakes.

Sickening.

She had also claimed that I must be a drunk driver or at least wish to drive impair for taking the position that the current BAC level of .08 should be instead the older standard of .1 and surely no lower then the already.low .08 bench mark.

No one have a right to disagree with the woman or challenge her statements without being a target for her personal attacks.

To sum up she is a piece of work.

Yep, that's a straw man argument if I've ever heard one.

There’s another reason that the once-ubiquitous “This Is What A Feminist Looks Like” t-shirt has officially been usurped by a cheeky “Ban Men.” Sincere feminist identification can sometimes feel like more trouble than it’s worth. When women don’t identify as feminists, they’re scolded that feminism simply means equality between men and women, and they’d have to be ignorant to reject the label. But women who do embrace the term find that feminist identification is not so simple: They stand to see every little personal choice dissected and critiqued from a feminist perspective, from the color of their wedding dresses to the filters on their selfies. It can be freeing, then, to instead adopt an ironic stance that allows women to identify against what they clearly are not: A cartoonish man-hater bent on total male destruction. And by squarely targeting anti-feminists, ironic misandry avoids dwelling on what feminists themselves are doing right or wrong. As Zimmerman puts it, it allows women to criticize “patriarchal ideals without also shitting on your fellow gal-identified types.”

I’m not a card-carrying misandrist myself—I’m a little too shy for message T-shirts and too square for Instagram memes—but I’m still grateful to have ironic misandry in my arsenal of tools for dealing with being a woman in the world. Some sexist provocations are too tiresome to counter with a full-throated feminist argument. Sometimes, all you need is a GIF.

The two problems with this argument are

1) sarcasm is a form of hostility, taking taking mens feelings and being sarcastic with them proves the men's rights groups point

2) female hostility towards men is generally targeted emotionally, and more of the same does nothing towards building bridges between the genders.

It is nice of this card carrying misandrist to admit that trying to argue that feminism is about equality is a waste of time, since clearly it has not been about that in a long time.

I think you missed the point of 'ironic misandry'. Since feminists get called misandrists by the men's rights groups anyway, they might as well co-opt the term for themselves and use it with exaggerated humor to show that's what they're not. It's an in-group joke among some feminists. It's not about hostility toward men at all. It doesn't target men--the joke targets anti-feminists.

Oh, it is still about that, but that's not why the men's rights groups are so fearful and paranoid about feminists--and label them misandrists. They represent a threat to the male power structure.
Quote:
Advocating for women’s rights won’t lead to the castration and extermination of all men, of course, but it will require the deflation of male power: Putting more women in the Senate will mean fewer male senators; elevating more women’s voices to the op-ed page will require silencing some men. Ironic misandry, then, allows feminists to contest the idea that they are radical man-haters, while simultaneously owning the fact that full equality between men and women remains a radical notion.

So what do you want the "feminists" or women in general just trying to finish their education and work to their potential 'do'? Why does everything have to be put on hold because lovesick creepy girls like the tattooed guy. Frankly, I haven't heard anything more about him.....and I'm fine with that. I just want to know why men's rights guys assume women should take up his cause or destroy him. Can't men shame him, or does that make the boys look like they are girlish. Is it ok for guys to drool over tramps, but stupid women can't drool over idiots?

Are men's rights groups picketing strip clubs, or well known tramps, to establish their bona fides? If they are, I'm in, I want to stop white slavery, foreign women coming into the country thinking they will be trained as nurses only to wind up chained to the floor and forced to be prostitutes for their benefactors. Let me know know, my pals how you want women to assist. Perhaps we can create a better world for our children and grandchildren. That includes male and female children. We must protect each and every one of them.

Great point hawkeye, and TRUE. BUT... Amanda Hess is a flat out lying misandrist, hate monger. She can say that she's being "ironic" all she wants, but her actions and words say otherwise. She hates men. Period.

Exactly!

You guys have all read about this right?

https://www.facebook.com/WomenAgainstFeminism

Feminists are SUPER butt hurt about how even women are now saying "NO, I won't put up with you bashing men anymore!"

Feminists are attacking this group and trying to shame them and force them into conforming to feminism.

So that's feminism for ya!

Feminist: "We believe in equality and equal opportunity for ALL women!"

Non-Feminist woman: "So why can't I speak up about how I disagree with feminism then? Shouldn't I have a right to speak my opinion?"

Feminist: "Shut up you misogynist bitch!"

The women against feminism movement is probably the most important thing that's ever happened in the interest of exposing that feminism is a hate movement. And it's only going to grow and grow....

There is a distinction to be made between respecting peoples rights, which I respect at large and respecting a movement that starting by its own naming is ridiculous. How the heck does a movement called feminism expects itself to be taken seriously beats me.

So, do you think it's taken less seriously because these women are not men? This whole thing is so freaking stupid, I can't believe a discussion was even started complaining that so called "feminists" are not all up in the air over some thugs mugshot. Maybe you should check with this guys father, he obviously didn't provide his son with an honorable male example.

Now hold on to your hats, most women want men to be men, women don't want to be male and they don't expect males to be women. I can't speak for everybody here who had a mother, but I can honestly say my parents treated my brother and I the same. I never felt they loved one of us more than the other.

@glitterbag,
Some people never learned the history of minorities, women, and gays and lesbians. It took almost 200 years to even get civil rights in this country.

Quote:
In 1920, due to the combined efforts of the NAWSA and the NWP, the 19th Amendment, enfranchising women, was finally ratified. This victory is considered the most significant achievement of women in the Progressive Era. It was the single largest extension of democratic voting rights in our nation’s history, and it was achieved peacefully, through democratic processes.

Women still get paid .88c to men's $1 for the same job; it used to be worse.

BillRM has posted the following details about his life. He said that his first wife had to get a restraining order out against him, something he did not challenge. He went into a children's play area with a box of kittens, and was asked to leave by the authorities, (the reasons why he had to leave keep changing.) He has admitted to entering child pornography terminology on a search engine called Ares, and has spoken about the results.

On a thread about someone caught watching graphic child pornography his automatic response was to talk about computer security, he described the person watching child pornography as "a useful member of society." Not once has he shown any concern for the children being abused.

He talks of viewing child pornography as a victimless crime, as opposed to the people who make it. He seems to think that a couple of days counselling is all the punishment needed. He talks a lot about the sentences given to rapists and child abusers which he thinks are far too harsh. This concern about legal reform is limited to sex offenders, because he also argued that the State of Texas had the right to execute a man without examining DNA evidence that could exonerate him.

On the rape threads he constantly tries to redefine rape as something he calls "real rape," which only seems to cover women who are attacked by strangers, and if the victims were wearing anything other than boiler suits they must share some of the blame. If alcohol is involved he portrays it as a drunken woman having consensual sex and regretting it the next day, which means that date rape does not exist.

BillRM does not dispute any of this, merely the conclusions that people like Firefly and myself have come to.

Knowing all of this, would you feel comfortable allowing BillRM to babysit your children? Would you feel comfortable living in the same street as him? I wouldn't.

This is a FLAT OUT LIE.

No, Women Don’t Make Less Money Than Men

It’s the bogus statistic that won’t die—and president deployed it during the State of the Union—but women do not make 77 cents to every dollar a man earns.
President Obama repeated the spurious gender wage gap statistic in his State of the Union address. “Today,” he said, “women make up about half our workforce. But they still make 77 cents for every dollar a man earns. That is wrong, and in 2014, it’s an embarrassment.”

What is wrong and embarrassing is the President of the United States reciting a massively discredited factoid. The 23-cent gender pay gap is simply the difference between the average earnings of all men and women working full-time. It does not account for differences in occupations, positions, education, job tenure, or hours worked per week. When all these relevant factors are taken into consideration, the wage gap narrows to about five cents. And no one knows if the five cents is a result of discrimination or some other subtle, hard-to-measure difference between male and female workers. In its fact-checking column on the State of the Union, the Washington Post included the president’s mention of the wage gap in its list of dubious claims. “There is clearly a wage gap, but differences in the life choices of men and women… make it difficult to make simple comparisons.”

Consider, for example, how men and women differ in their college majors. Here is a list (PDF) of the ten most remunerative majors compiled by the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce. Men overwhelmingly outnumber women in all but one of them:

1. Petroleum Engineering: 87% male
2. Pharmacy Pharmaceutical Sciences and Administration: 48% male
3. Mathematics and Computer Science: 67% male
4. Aerospace Engineering: 88% male
5. Chemical Engineering: 72% male
6. Electrical Engineering: 89% male
7. Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering: 97% male
8. Mechanical Engineering: 90% male
9. Metallurgical Engineering: 83% male
10. Mining and Mineral Engineering: 90% male

And here are the 10 least remunerative majors—where women prevail in nine out of ten:

1. Counseling Psychology: 74% female
2. Early Childhood Education: 97% female
3. Theology and Religious Vocations: 34% female
4. Human Services and Community Organization: 81% female
5. Social Work: 88% female
6. Drama and Theater Arts: 60% female
7. Studio Arts: 66% female
8. Communication Disorders Sciences and Services: 94% female
9. Visual and Performing Arts: 77% female
10. Health and Medical Preparatory Programs: 55% female

Much of the wage gap can be explained away by simply taking account of college majors. Early childhood educators and social workers can expect to earn around $36,000 and $39,000, respectively. By contrast, petroleum engineering and metallurgy degrees promise median earnings of $120,000 and $80,000. Not many aspiring early childhood educators would change course once they learn they can earn more in metallurgy or mining. The sexes, taken as a group, are somewhat different. Women, far more than men, appear to be drawn to jobs in the caring professions; and men are more likely to turn up in people-free zones. In the pursuit of happiness, men and women appear to take different paths.

But here is the mystery. These and other differences in employment preferences and work-family choices have been widely studied in recent years and are now documented in a mountain of solid empirical research. By now the President and his staff must be aware that the wage gap statistic has been demolished. This is not the first time the Washington Post has alerted the White House to the error. Why continue to use it? One possibility is that they have been taken in by the apologetics of groups like the National Organization for Women and the American Association of University Women. In its 2007 Behind the Pay Gap report, the AAUW admits that most of the gap in earnings is explained by choices. But this admission is qualified: “Women’s personal choices are similarly fraught with inequities,” says the AAUW. It speaks of women being “pigeonholed” into “pink-collar” jobs in health and education. According to NOW, powerful sexist stereotypes “steer” women and men “toward different education, training, and career paths.”

“Much of the wage gap can be explained away by simply taking account of college majors. In the pursuit of happiness, men and women appear to take different paths.”
Have these groups noticed that American women are now among the most educated, autonomous, opportunity-rich women in history? Why not respect their choices? For the past few decades, untold millions of state and federal dollars have been devoted to recruiting young women into engineering and computer technology. It hasn’t worked. The percent of degrees awarded to women in fields like computer science and engineering has either stagnated or significantly decreased since 2000. (According to Department of Education data, in 2000, women earned 19 percent of engineering BA’s, and 28 percent in computer science; by 2011, only 17 percent of engineering degrees were awarded to females, and the percent of female computer science degrees had dropped to 18.) All evidence suggests that though young women have the talent for engineering and computer science, their interest tends to lie elsewhere. To say that these women remain helplessly in thrall to sexist stereotypes, and manipulated into life choices by forces beyond their control, is divorced from reality—and demeaning to boot. If a woman wants to be a teacher rather than a miner, or a veterinarian rather than a petroleum engineer, more power to her.

The White House should stop using women’s choices to construct a false claim about social inequality that is poisoning our gender debates. And if the President is truly persuaded that statistical pay disparities indicate invidious discrimination, then he should address the wage gap in his own backyard. Female staff at the White House earn 88 cents on the dollar compared to men. Is there a White House war on women?
