Funny how the only people who say it's safe are working for the US government. You know, the same ones who told us DDT, Agent Orange, and above-ground nuclear testing are safe.

For more info and a better idea of how safe "safe" actually is,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluoride_toxicity

Note the part about how it's the main ingrediant in pesiticides.

Flourine is a poison ..... in large doses. So are Iron, selenium, iodine, chlorine and many other elements, metals and compounds. In many cases small quantities of each are necessary for health and even survival, but large doses dangerous.

This is a well-known phenomenon in biology, and it even has a name ... hormesis. In many cases the beneficial action of the agent in question lies in the the irritation and response it stimulates in the body. In others, like iodine, death can occur both from too little and too much in the blood. Happily our digestive processes regulate our absorption of many of these (iodine is an example) so that an overdose cannot occur from simply eating it.

Nature is a bit complicated, but it does a good job in providing fodder and half truths for loonies and fanatics to get excited about.

@georgeob1,
Talking Flourine now or fluoride?

And, of course, a cheap Ad Hominem!

Fluoride is indeed very very toxic! And a lot comes from waste material from the making of the atomic bomb!

Cheers!

@Quehoniaomath,
flouride is the ionic form of the halogen flourine, and we always identify with the element when talking about vol or mass concentrations in things like toothpaste , drinking water, rocket fuel , cryolite,or pesticides.

I understand why you have no use for school, it all went over your head .

The Nazis didn't use fluoride in the water in concentration camps. Just another one of the many conspiracy theories you have fallen for Q.

Just another flawed piece of info you are spouting, Q, hoping no one checks it.
Burk's study was flawed and has been proven wrong since 1977.

Fluoridation: Don't Let the Poisonmongers Scare You

Quote:
Since the scientific community is so solidly in favor of fluoridation, antis try to discredit it entirely by use of the conspiracy gambit. The beauty of the conspiracy charge is that it can be leveled at anyone and there is absolutely no way to disprove it. After all, how does one prove that something is not taking place secretly? Favorite "conspirators" are the U.S. Public Health Service, the American Dental Association, the American Medical Association, and the aluminum industry. Apparently, in the minds of the antis, these groups could all be working together to "poison" the American people! Years ago, conspiracy claims would work primarily with the very paranoid. But modern-day government scandals may make them seem realistic to a wider audience.The "slippery slope" claim is a related gambit. "This is only the beginning!" the antis wail. "First they will add fluoride, then vitamin pills, and the next thing you know it will be birth control pills!" Who "they" are need not be specified.

@Quehoniaomath,
So in your world none of the people that spent time in concentration camps were ever able to have children? Hmmmm... who should I believe? You or my lying eyes?

@Quehoniaomath,
reading flaming ebsites does NOT constitute "research"

You merely adopt a worldview and only read that which seems to agree with it, and you call that "research"

As long as you remain harmless AND vent your crap on these kind of open websites, KNOCK YOURSELF OUT!!

@farmerman,
Perhaps Quahog doesnt understnd that, there are areas where F exceeds a recc limit for effective dental protection. If that does occur, (especially where ground water is used in public supplies, the water is DEFLOURIDATED by perking the product water through beds of activated alumina.
A recc dosage is at or slightly less than a ppm.

Hormetic effects occur with many substances , even table salt.
