I have a friend who did suffer form this but new hardships have come upon and now she is thinking about doing it again. She is a really good friend of mine...How do I go about helping her?

Encourage her to get professional help. Seriously, this is WAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY above your (or any layman's) pay grade.

she has gotten help but she has suffered from serious abuse in the past and her parents dont know so i think here insecurity comes form hiding it from her parents.
