Hi, nice to see this thread is healthy.

Actually, I didn't break my ankle. I fractured the bone right over my ankle. Gotta wear a cast for a few weeks. It's desparating.

So, I see Hamburger is another May 6ther.

Just one more proof about our importance.

Nice pics and story myownusername.

I can't imagine the coming season is the most pleasant time to have a cast in Mexico City. My condolences.

Thanks, fellows.
The current season is OK -as always- as climate goes. We are usually in the 70s fahrenheit.
Since it rains almost every day, the problem is that the ground is slippery (actually, I fell while mocking "Singing in the Rain").

George, what an interesting day to be born on!

Husker, you can't hide your age that much.
Lemme see...
You were to compete in wrestling for the 1980 Olympics, so it's quite probable you were also born in the fifties. Wink

You know you're getting old when news items you brought in as "current events" when you were in grammar school are now in your kid's history book.

July 16, 1952-

Shel Alpert, a USCG seaman on duty in the Coast Guard Weather Office at the Salem Coast Guard Station, saw four brilliant lights in the sky. He called another Guardsman to see the lights, but in those few seconds the lights had become more dim. When they brightened again, he quickly took a single photograph through the window of the office. This photo has been published in many books, newspapers and magazines.

Unfortunately, the three wisemen were unable to find the hospital; but perhaps its just as well, considering what that other guy went through.

Also, Stuart Copeland, drummer of The Police, was born.

I share a birthday with Ginger Rogers; my sister's birthday (May 10) is the same as Fred Astaire's. Neither one of us can dance a lick.

Fascinating posts - thanks.

OK, I've looked up a bit more:

30 May 1971

36 hospitalized during Grateful Dead concert; drunk LSD apple juice [!!!]

US Mariner 9 1st satellite to orbit Mars launched

David Bowie's son, Zowie, was born.

None of which is dramatically exciting. However, the next day (31st), the country of Bangladesh was born.

I did a little better on my wedding date: October 11, 1975.

Bill Clinton and Hillary Rodham were also getting married.

And a new late night show called Saturday Night Live debuted.

Hmmm, 17 April 1951. So far, I've only been able to find one significant bit of news that happened that day:

Fears for crew of lost British submarine

The entire 75-strong crew of a British submarine is feared dead after going missing off the south coast of England.

The Affray left Portsmouth last night and submerged about 30 miles south of the Isle of Wight at 2115 BST (2015GMT).

etc.....
