@Wilso,
Pretty sure it requires a current Adobe Flash player. Should be free except for the time you spend rooting around their website.

Wilso, if you download their stuff, there are lots of thinks you can check or uncheck to download other 'things'. The best advice I can give is 'don't'. I did and had to restore to a previous day's restore point.

I'm talking about posting youtube links to a2k. Other users links show a video preview. Mine just show text.

@Wilso,
Sorry about misunderstanding.

Try going to someone else's video link and hit the quote button. That should show the placements of the [youtube] with the appropriate syntax. If that don't work, I'm out of ideas.

@Wilso,
Try this adding the URL of the video in between opening and closing youtube BBCode tags like this:

Code:[youtube]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9qYF9DZPdw[/youtube]

That should then result in the video being embedded in your post like this:

@peterfrouman,
You have to manually type in the code, it isn't one of the preset buttons in a he BBCode editor.

What do you mean by text? You are probably not putting in the correct Youtube address in. You can't use the truncated versions of the links provided over Twitter or some over the cell phone email accounts.

You need to actually go to the full Youtube site and get the actual full internet address of that specific video and paste that one into the Youtube BBCode in your post.

And yet, I've previously done it from the iPad with no trouble.

I've been wanting to learn how to do this myself, Wilso, so I'm giving it a try here.

Wow...success.

My very first time.

And with one of my favorite tunes.

Good luck to you, Wilso. Thanks to those who talked me through this.

@Frank Apisa,
Frank, the a2k blog - see dark band at bottom of the page, to the right - has some handy hints, and this is one of them.

You could probably find that if you put the word youtube into the search space on the blog. I did it by putting in the words embed youtube.

Thanks, Ossobuco. I'll investigate more. I am seriously tech challenged.

Isn't that a satisfying feeling Frank?

Once I figure out how to do it, new worlds opened to me.

Yup.

Right now I am getting lots of pleasure from mastering Windows 8.l...and my new LG phone. I feel like a genius even though I recognize I am a dummy. Wink Smile
