Some Day in Pictures photos and captions from the SF Chronicle -

Call it a tie: The 14-week-old Hellabrunn polar bear cubs make their first public appearance at the Munich zoo and waste no time seeing who can get the dirtiest.

Did you remember to scrub behind your ears? Mother Giovanna overseas the bathing of the Hellabrunn Zoo polar bear cubs, who made a mess of themselves in their public debut.

Hmm. I can't copy the next two photos I wanted to show. Maybe I have too many windows open on the mac, but I don't want to close the others. Will try again tomorrow. (Meercats and camels in different photos)

@ossobuco,
I was right - I had too many windows open and my Safari browser resisted.

Back to Wednesday's SFGate pictures -

It's so hard to get the young ones to look at the camera: A couple of shy subjects spoil the meerkat family group portrait at the zoo in Erfurt, Germany.

@FBM,
Fine looking spider, FBM. Mighty fine. Am I seeing pupils in those eyes, and by the way, what's the approximate scale. Somehow, it's giving the impression of being fairly large.

Good to see you back.

@roger,
It's a cutie. Glad you like. No pupils there, I reckon. Just reflections. It's a jumping spider, a Salticid of some sort, so it's just a couple of millimeters across. It's on a grass straw. Wink
