Does the peom in following mean:
Though I've tied you with a belt and beat you,
In the name of the living God who made you,
You're better than me, Mr. Gunga Din!

Context:

Tho' I've belted you and flayed you,
By the livin' Gawd that made you,
You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din!”

Belted means beaten. Flayed means skinned-as in removing the skin.
