Here's another FACT that the likes of Baldimo doesn't understand out of sheer ignorance. The GOP and conservatives decry 'big government,' but they're the ones receiving the most 'welfare.' They get more from government than they pay.

@cicerone imposter,
What's your point? If the people who support the GOP want a smaller govt, let them have it. They would only end up screwing themselves right? People have to learn.

@bobsal u1553115,
Yea, Benghazi is a waste of time. Why should we care about ambassadors and military folks getting killed? It's not like the State Department actually did anything to protect them, so why should I care !!

Christ, Woiyo...we've been all though that a thousand times. The help was offered and refused.

It was a tragedy...but this obsession the Republicans have for it reminds me of the birther nonsense.

Get over it. It happened. Now we want to see that it does not happen again...although more than likely, something like it will.

It is a dangerous world.

@woiyo,
That's not it!~ When GW Bush started the Iraq war on lies, over 4300 Americans were killed, and tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis. Where were these idiots when that happened? How many investigations did they start to look into the lies of GW Bush and company?

To the GOP, 4 lives are more important than 4300 Americans and all those innocent Iraqis killed. Even after Stevens refused added security, AND the GOP cut consular security funding.

There's No Cure For Stupid; TNCFS

Why these bozos keep getting voted into office shows how ignorant many Americans are! We have found the enemy.......

@cicerone imposter,
Come one CI. We cover this already. You can't ask the GOP to investigate their own president. Just as you know the Dem's would never start an investigation into their own president.

The Dem's had the majority for 4 years and didn't do any investigations into Bush or Iraq. They had their shot and didn't take it. You can't expect the GOP to do something the Dem's didn't do. So stop the false outrage over the lack of investigations into Iraq. You're a day late and a dollar short for that sort of outrage to hold any sway.

@Frank Apisa,
Then the State Department can close the embassy and call back everyone. Other countries did that. We did not. Maybe the State Dept can own up to the fact that for political purposes it was better to leave a weak embassy and not care about their safety, then close it.

Yea, very dangerous world. Does that mean we need to have embassy is such places?

@cicerone imposter,
Yep. And the Democrats and Republicans kept funding it and funding it and saying we are behind the troops ... Yadda Yadda Yadda.

The Iraq war could have been over before it started. Don't fund it Congress !!!

Same thing with Benghazi. Close the embassy before the attack.

Whatever.

You are more interested in dumping on Hillary and Obama than actually trying to be real about this thing.

So do it...and get what satisfaction you can from it.

The GOP always want to increase defense spending to fund wars all around the globe, but when it comes down to helping our vets, it's always NO.

GOP blocks veterans bill
By Ramsey Cox

Senate Republicans stopped Democrats from advancing a bill that would have expanded healthcare and education programs for veterans.

In a 56-41 vote Thursday, the motion to waive a budget point of order against the bill failed, as Democrats fell short of the 60 votes needed to overcome the Republican roadblock.

GOP Sens. Dean Heller (Nev.) and Jerry Moran (Kan.) voted with Democrats.

We know who the enemies of this country are; it's something we have to live with as long as the conservatives continue their destructive path for our country and the world.

Funny I don't remember vets dying on Bushs' watch. Or any such manipulation of the numbers. Obama is all talk, and you dummies are all ears.

You pump 750 billion into the economy a couple of times and see what happens. It is called QE and is, or has, created a financial illusion. I know you understand delusion.

Then I guess that makes you as much as a liar as Obama. I don't listen to liars. I would rather listen to people that mean what they say, and don't concern themselves with lockstep liberal conclusions about them .

Greens Are Reds

And Republicans need to prove it to voters.

I would like to modestly propose that it is time for conservatives to combat the most economically dangerous and statist movement in the world today, and it is not socialism. It is the modern-day green movement, which is not run by people who primarily want to keep the air we breathe and the water we drink clean, or safeguard endangered species like tigers and bald eagles, or prevent urban blight—every sane person is for those things. Its guiding principle is instead to impede economic growth, material progress, and capitalism.

Quote:
One wonders whether wealthy liberals even understand that the green diktats they favor regressive taxes on the poor. Do they care? Environmentalists used to fantasize that their policy mandates would lead to “green jobs” for working men and women, but that bubble popped awfully fast. Just ask the Germans, who are ditching expensive green wind and solar projects as fast as they can to save their flagging economy.

Why can't we learn from others mistakes. Canada saved its economy with energy expansion. We can do the same.

U.S. runs budget surplus in April, on track to narrow annual deficit

WASHINGTON Mon May 12, 2014 2:03pm EDT
0 Comments

(Reuters) - The United States posted a $107 billion budget surplus in April, according to Treasury Department figures released on Monday, suggesting the federal government was on track to slash its annual deficit.

Washington usually runs a surplus in April because households have a deadline for settling tax bills that month.

Last month's surplus was slightly smaller than the $114 billion figure expected by analysts polled by Reuters.

Tax receipts have surged this year as the economy has improved. The Congressional Budget Office expects the deficit will shrink to $492 billion during the fiscal year, which began in October. In 2013, the government ran a $680 billion deficit.

So far this year, the government has run $306 billion into the red. That deficit is 37 percent smaller than it was in the same period of fiscal 2013.

Last month's receipts were $8 billion higher than they were in April of last year. Outlays were also higher, though they have been on a downward trend in part because an improved labor market has led fewer people to draw on jobless benefits.

The expiration of benefits for many long-term unemployed workers in January has also reduced outlays.
