@Frank Apisa,
Id love to load Fed Ex with the requirement to deliver ALL 4th class mail and Franked mail and would have to NOT CHARGE 7.50$ for a measly letter, and would have to deliver to ALL parts of the country then see how the private sector does. FedEx is a niche (a very big one but a niche nonetheless). Its free of all the down dragging requirement that the law puts on the Post Office.
@farmerman,
I agree there. The USPS delivers the services the Congress mandates, not what its customers demand through the choices they make, based on cost and service. There is a connection with demand, but it operates slowly through the political process. I'm not suggesting there is no social merit in this mandates, rather that they are profoundly different from the market forces that drive commercial providers.
The many individuals and companies that are using UPS, FEDEX and the other private sector services are not idiots - they are acting in their self-interest as they perceive it, and making choices based on cost and the details of the service provided.
There's a lot of disagreement out there about the reality of the USPS potential to stand on its own economically. The fact is the USPS funding of existing pension and health care liabilities is well short of the actuarial requirements for them, and, as a result the service is "borrowing" large sums annually from the government. The Postal Service union is publicly a staunch defender of the service, touting its economic independence of the government. At the same time it works assiduously to (quietly) get added Federal subsidies to fund pay and benefits for its members. Everybody likes to get things both ways.

There is that $15 billion "borrowed" from the US treasury that there is zero chance that they will ever pay back, and the $100 billion unfunded pension liability that the taxpayers are likely to get stuck paying a good portion of.
You dont want to talk about that do you......
Zero chance to pay it back is your opinion. The US government loaned money to AIG that there was zero chance of being paid back and the US government ended being paid back. According to the GAO there is not $100 billion unfunded for USPS pensions. It is only $19 billion. The health benefit has a $48 billion shortfall. The $100 billion figure you are using was from a year ago and it includes the $15 billion from the treasury. But why worry about facts when you can count something twice?
What it amazes me is the last TV ads where political candidates accuse one to another that the opponent is against "free choice"
I understand that "free choice" is in reference to abortion.
My vote is for the candidate who promotes "free choice" for a woman by telling her that her first choice is just to close her legs, second choice to use condoms or pills...and so forth...
@carloslebaron,
Sure and during a rape she has the choice to just have her body shut down.
@georgeob1,
Id like to see ALL 4th class mail only be delivered by e-mail(itd be environmentally friendly, economical, and convenient). According to a study done several years ago, the mere reduction of that requirement would make the USPS ALMOST even.
@carloslebaron,
Stupidity certainly holds an certain allure for you. Your comment is beyond despicable.
@parados,
Don't encourage that idiotic sort of spew.
@coldjoint,
Well, he certainly implied it. Still tripping all over your weasel and don't want to admit to the truth about Ronnie-phones?
@coldjoint,
Well, yes he did. So you've accepted Ronnie-phones??
@coldjoint,
I stand by my statement, **** for brains. He certainly implied it and definitely meant to imply it, **** face.
Hows your Ronnie-phone hanging, jackass?
@coldjoint,
You assclown. That's the truth.
Hows your Ronnie-phone hanging?
Joe the Plumber Goes Full Racist Complete With Misspelled Slurs Against ‘Pollacks’ ‘Krauts’ and ‘Waps’
Posted by: John Prager in Religion, TEApublicans in Action October 2, 2014
Republish Reprint
Holy moly! Things got racist on Joe the Plumber’s blog…again.
In the past, Joe has featured a number of questionable articles. One of his bloggers, a Republican Congressional candidate, has asserted that a disproportionate number of black men deserve to be in jail and that police should not protect neighborhoods that call them out for racism.
Because of Joe For America’s regular inclusion of pieces that are, in the best of light, more than a little bigoted,the blog has become a bastion for white priders and imbeciles. Joe himself has built a following for his hateful remarks, such as an assertion that we need an old, rich, white Republican in the officer of President.
He has also coldly declared that his right to own a gun is of more import than “your dead kids” following a mass murder, has possibly encouraged someone to threaten a Democratic WV lawmaker, and has generally espoused fear, paranoia, and an irrational hatred of all that is not white, conservative, and the “right” kind of Christian.
It is unsurprising that Joe would choose to reprint an absolutely awful letter — laden with slurs against Polish people, “Waps,” (a misspelling of an ethnic slur for Italians) and “Krauts,” a pejorative term for those of German descent. Mr. “The Plumber” says that the sender wishes to remain anonymous “as they don’t really want the IRS showing up at the door.”
The letter accused President Obama of taking his mommy and daddy issues out on America, then veered off quickly into an anti-Muslim rant that included a suggestion, borrowing from a touching statement President Obama made about Trayvon Martin, that he say, “If I had a son, he would have looked like Alton Nolen,” or “Jah Keem Yisrael,” an Oklahoma man who beheaded a coworker.”
The letter reads:
Dear Mr. President,
I am sorry your Dad turned his back on you. I am sorry your Mom kicked you out of Indonesia and sent you to live with your Grandparents on an island where you didn’t surf. But mostly I’m sorry that you are taking your issues out on the rest of us.
My mom and dad made it through for better or worse, and although we had black kids, Jewish kids, Hispanic kids, a ton of Waps, Pollack’s and Kraut kids in my school, we never noticed the difference. Our folks worried more about the content of character of the kids that we hung out with than their skin color.
You and Mr. Holder can kiss my butt because my folks were no cowards. They were Americans.
My Dad was also a cop. When you said that the Cambridge Police acted stupidly in arresting a highly agitated Professor Gates, you insulted them and my Dad.
When you said that people cling to their Bibles and guns because we are afraid, you alienated the best of us. And, by the way Mr. President, I have heard you say many times:
”The Holy Koran…..” yet I have never heard you comment on the “Holy Bible” or “The Word of God”….. That is an insult to me and over two hundred and forty million of my American Christian Brothers and Sisters.
Last week, in a speech that was supposed to be about the barbaric Islamic State and protecting the American people, I watched you stand in front of the United Nations and proclaim to the world that the United States has it’s own racial and ethnic tensions in places like Fergusson, MO. Yes we do, but in the last six years, you, Sir, have made those tensions worse.
I did not vote for you, but like many of my friends and family, I prayed that your historic election would heal our land. You have been such a disappointment, yet still, I want to give you the benefit of the doubt. I am waiting for my apology. If you truly want to unite us as Americans, perhaps you should stand up and say, ”If I had a son he would have looked like Alton Nolen….” or better yet, “If I had a son, he would have looked like “Jah Keem Yisrael?”
And speaking of Islamic Terrorists….oh, wait, that’s right, you don’t, just ask the folks at Fort Hood. Americans don’t operate out of fear. That’s not who we are. That’s not in our DNA.
If a foreign culture that denigrates women, kills gays and has to wait until they get to Heaven to get laid wants to bring war to our land, then when the time comes, we Americans of all colors, of all political backgrounds, will do what we have always done and take care of business.
Until then, Mr. President, stop disrespecting us.
@coldjoint,
That's just argumentative BS.
