Oops, sorry safecracker. So the scores are really:

Hiama: 1 + 2 + 7 = 10

firstthought: 2 + 7 = 9
Mac11: 1 + 8 = 9
Safecracker: 1 + 8 = 9

Margo: 0 + 7 = 7
Equus: 1 + 6 = 7

cavfancier: 2 + 4 = 6
Eva: 2 + 4= 6

fealola: 4 + 1 = 5

jespah: 0 + 4 = 4

littlek: 0 + 3 = 3

Felix Noir: 1 + 1 = 2

Peace & Love: 0 + 1 = 1
Taffy le Blanc: 0 + 1 = 1

Jaspercat: 0
Diane: 0 + 0? = 0

How are we on oenophile? Isn't it that if a certain number (helfino which #) of people submit the correct definition to the dasher, the word is dropped in favor of something else?

PS Thanks lil k. Embarrassed

Re: Balderdash
From Lola's original rules on page 1 of this thread:
Lola wrote:
Note: If the dasher receives more than one answer closely resembling the correct answer, the round is canceled and the dasher chooses a new word. However, each and every player who submits an answer closely resembling the correct answer still receives 3 points.

As I understand the rules above, you'll need to choose a new word, firstthought.

I did not respond sooner as I am one of the players who knew the word. And, firstthought, I'm not entirely sure what you meant about the "definitive" definition...

I also know oenophile and even use it occasionally in my writing. (I have restaurants for clients.) Perhaps firstthought has a slightly different definition than I remember? I know I'm close, though.

I agree...I'd rather we choose a new word.

balderdash --oenophile
cav so you know the definition of the current word. Well nobody has given me the correct definition yet. As stated in a Merriam Webster Dictionary.

I would be obliged if you would post your definition directly to the thread.

If correct I will acknowledge it, if not I will post the correct definition with an explanation.

The game on this word is now over but one should remember that rules always have exceptions. An there were some good bluffs.

If the players wish me to continue I will proffer a new word.

mac ll definitive just means precise ---no big deal

I thought I said wine-lover? Okay, I didn't mention connoisseur.
A oenophile is not a lush. A oenophile is the kind of person who keeps wine for investment, or can tell you about the bouquet, vintage, etc. A lush doesn't care about that.

P&L, thanks for letting the group know that we were out of town. Felix would have voted for your bluff if he had been here--I don't know how I would have voted, but I certainly didn't know the real definition.

Welcome Jaspercat. My cat, Felix Noir, and I love to play Balderdash. As you can see, Felix is much better than I which is terribly embarrassing. Embarrassed

S'okay. It gives a bad reputation to us lushes when we get called 'oenophile' connoisseurs. Instead, we're WHEEnophiles.
