You've done your duty, jespah, of keeping this game alive through the holidays. Shut this round down whenever you feel like it; this puppy is pretty whupped.
(ps I enjoy seeing people, like jespah in Boston, use the word "y'all." The correct spelling, though, is simply "yall." It's a lot of work to put the apostrophe in each time). -rjb-

Some comedian (maybe Jeff Foxworthy?) used to list redneck vocabulary. One that stuck in my mind was "Momanem", as in, "I went back home fer Christmas to visit Momanem (mom and them)."

And of course, "ratcheer", as in "set that case of beer ratcheer (right here).

Okay, time for the answers. I'm afraid someone else will need to do the scoring, hope you don't mind. Thanks in advance.

1) A diet consisting exclusively of plankton. No one gobbled up Equus's bluff.
2) That icky cat named Lou who thinks he's the cat's pajamas. Felix Noir's bluff was left naked and alone.
3) The occurrence of white spots or patches under the nails due to the presence of air bubbles between the nail and its bed. It's the right answer! Spotted by Equus, panzade and Bibliophile.[/color]
4) Discoloration found on water lilies. Bib's bluff Peace and Love was swept upstream by this one.
5) An ornamental grass known as Japanese Blood Grass. Peace & Love's bluff was pretty but stayed out of the action.
6) A choice between the two Ia brothers: Luke or Nick? jes's first bluff was unclaimed by family.
7) Premature graying of the hair. George's bluff Diane and Clary appreciated this one.
8) An early stage of leukemia. Justthefax's bluff remained in the isolation ward.
9) A melon fungus. realjohnboy's bluff stayed in the garden.
10) The medical term for a hangnail. panzade's bluff was too painful to contemplate.
11) The genus of white lion. jes's second bluff Felix Noir flicked his tail at this one.
12) Having white eyelids. Clary's bluff George was mesmerized.
13) A parasitic growth formed on roots grown in contaminated water. Diane's bluff realjohnboy cultivated this one.

Good round, all! Now, who's next? :-D

Way to go, jespah, for finishing the leisurely round.

Subject to correction, I see the scores as (remembering that George and Clary got points for the abortive JESS word):
At 9: clary*
At 8: equus* and justthefax
At 7: biblio*
At 6: george*
At 4: diane* and felix
At 3: jameson, wcbethmd, ehbeth and jespah
At 2: littlek, firstthought, cav, eva and panzade* and taffy
At 1: p&l* and swimpy
At 0: rjb et al
(hiama asked for a point, at some, um, point).
So why do some of you have the * next to your name? Ha, because you have been nominated as the candidate to be the next Dasher!
Which one of you **** is going to step forward?

Love ya right back, Clary!
I put the geck in gecko and the bald in balderdash.

Let's go, lads and lasses. I've heard from Bibliophile, Clary and
realjohnboy who each have wowed me with their responses.

Show me what ya got.

Thank you, Pal!

I have sent PMs to sopme past paticipants to solicit more bluffs.
C'mon now, folks, you know how badly I take rejection.

I'll let things percolate over the weekend and see whether we hit critical
mass on Monday.
