Yes, the floor serves as a screen. Projectors (film, slide, TV, computer etc) are often said to 'throw' an image onto a screen, a wall, or whatever. The verbs 'project' and 'throw' are synonyms.

That is a brooch, pronounced 'broach', an item of jewellery (British spelling) usually attached to clothing.
