"I would like to thank you for considering me
eligible for the post of System Engineer and
approving my promotion." Is there anything
wrong in the above sentence?
@falconer,
I would change that to read, "I would like to thank you for approving my promotion to the post of System Engineer."
@cicerone imposter,
Thank you for the response. I actually wanted to emphasize the fact that he considers me eligible for that post. How grammatically incorrect is that sentence, if it is?
@falconer,
I'm confused; they didn't give you a promotion? It seems you need two separate sentences to respond. One for the promotion, and the other for the "consideration."
@cicerone imposter,
The scenario is he had mailed me that I would be promoted and my promotion is approved but I wasn't given the official promotion letter.
@falconer,
Wait for the official letter.

No. Its OK.
U might consider adding the word:
"for" before
the word: "approving".
