Ex-Official Says Christie Knew

Chris Christie knew about the George Washington Bridge lane closings at the time it happened, says David Wildstein, Christie’s high school friend and the former Port Authority official who oversaw the controversial lane closings. In a written statement released by Wildstein’s lawyer, he says that it was “the Christie administration’s order” to close the lanes and that “evidence exists as well tying Mr. Christie to having knowledge of the lane closures, during the period when the lanes were closed contrary to what the governor stated publicly in a two-hour press conference,” earlier this month. This is the first claim from someone involved with the incident that contradicts the New Jersey governor’s persistent denial that he had any knowledge of the bridge lane’s closing.
