New Scientist puts this article today:
http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg22029481.700-rude-awakenings-how-swearing-made-us-human.html

And I failed to spell out those swearing words. Would you be so kind to spell them out?
Of course NO SWEARING here. Just to see how swearing made us human:

I've only got three:
1) u among f*cking
2) as among b*tard
3) hi among s*theaded

I think the C**king might be a misspelling or just wrong.
Otherwise it probably says what Region said, Cocking. And that doesn't making sense really, in the terms of most of the other words.
The missing one, is arseface. Although, I don't believe I've ever heard that term. Round here, it would probably be assface, if you were so inclined. Arse is more... British or southern USA. A politer way of saying ass, or so it seems.

@oristarA,
NSFW - it must be those prudish American hamsters. Have they been threatened by some rightwing religious group?

The question is whether tossers is a swearing word.

Well, please just tell me why "C'MON THEN!" is swearing. It looks normal to me.

I'd say ass is the bowdlerised version of arse (a very early anglo-saxon word).

Americans do that. Do you remember that female TV commentator who said "War is heck!"

@McTag,
About "tossers", I only heard of "you patronizing tosser" - which is still not swearing.
Do you think "tossers" is a swearing word, McTag?

it's short for "come on then!", but is usually written with an apostrophe --

"c'mon then!"

Of course I know this.
But it is not a swearing phrase.

@oristarA,
A tosser is someone who tosses themselves off, or masturbates, same as a wanker.

It's not politer at all. We've got lots more swearwords than the Americans. We've even got a special dictionary devoted to swearing.

@izzythepush,
Izzy is an expert on swear words. That means he has connections to the dark side. Child porn is found on the dark side so in addition to his collections of books of swear words, he must also have a sizeable collection of kiddie porn. Of course, in order to get and market this porn, he must have mob connections or given all the facts I've listed he must be the Mob. Izzythepush -see

That means that Izzy has to also be a murderer, a drug dealer, a thief, you name it, izzy has to have done it. You can see all this just by following the patterns.

@izzythepush,
Izzy no worries, mate. I've been to your delightful country and am a fan of Brit comedy. I'm well aware of your foul mouths.
The suggestion that arse derives from Anglo-Saxon is probably true, I never thought about it, just anthropomorphized it I guess. All my immediate family, aunts, uncles were from across the pond. I never heard them say arse even once, but then they weren't gentrified... lol
Growing up, it was always the more prissy people on tv shows saying arse. Or older period pieces, Canadian stuff like Ann of Green Gables and what not. Strong protestant types with a lot of stiff upper lips...

@McTag,
My cousin, who worked for the Beeb, was on assignment in the US, 5 years ago. She was given a large list of words she couldn't say stateside. Hell was one of the words. To this very day...
We don't have these restrictions in Canada.I can't remember all the words on the list but it was a fascinating read.

@oristarA,
It's not a swear but if said in certain circumstances, it could be construed as rude. I suppose.

@Ceili,
As a kid I never really understood it when American TV shows talked of restrooms and bathrooms in shops. Why would anybody want to take a bath when they were out shopping?
