Frank, Is that the reason why it's called "theology?"
c.i.
Hi, Frank Apisa! Really glad to see you posting on A2K at last ... if you wan't any help pokin' around in here, just holler.
And yeah, I pretty much agree that IF THERE WERE a diety, that fact, state, or condition theortically would be subject to "Proof", whether or not such proof might ever be determined. Absent a diety, the conditions for proof are likewise absent.

Hi Frank,
Nice to see you at last.
Quote:
It is at least theoretically possible that one could prove that GOD exists -- if there is a GOD.
Frank Apisa..
Your statement above is not self-evident.
Thanks to everyone for your warm welcomes to A2K.
Satt, you said that my comment was not "self-evident."
I think it is.
If there is a GOD, it is at least theoretically possible to prove that GOD exists -- because the GOD could choose to reveal Itself in an unambiguous way as proof of Its existence. The "one" in my statement could be GOD -- if a GOD exists.
If there are no gods -- obviously, there is no revelation of that situation possible -- so proof of no gods is not even theoretically possible.
N'est ce pas?
PS
Satt
How do you do that neat "quote" thing? I've seen it in a couple of threads (do you folks call these things threads?) and I would like to be able to use it.
Frank, yes these things are called threads the world around, by those alleged to write in English, at any event.
The quote thing you refer to is known as an electronic signature. Go to the home page, select control panel, and, at the top, find edit your profile. Toward the bottom of that page, you will see a space for an electronic signature.

Frank ..
What could be said if GOD did not choose (by free will or due to the inherent structure) the entire revelation?
About quote:
If you find sentenses or paragraphs to quote in a post, you simply click on "quote" icon on the upper right corner of the post, and you can pick up the part you would like to cite.

You wrote: "What could be said if GOD did not choose (by free will or due to the inherent structure) the entire revelation? "
COMMENT:
I don't know.
But that has nothing to do with my comment. My comment was that "...it is at least theoretically possible..."
There may be no way to prove either side of the "Is there a God?" question -- but it IS AT LEAST theoretically possible that the "There is a GOD" side could be proven.
I can think of no theoretical possibility to prove the reverse.
(As you can see, I have not mastered the "quote" thing. I did click on the quote button at the top of the post, but I didn't know what to do with the resust.
I'll keep fooling with it.
Frank..
We might debate about relation between possibility and proof, but later.
Re quote:
On your profile page, you will find an option "Always allow BBCode" in Preferences. Check on it. Then you will be able to quote a post or insert an image as you would like.
Frank, down at the bottom of my posts are color-formatted links to A2K's FAQ page, and to our "Help" forum. Click on either of them, and you will open a new page. Try starting with the FAQ. In the Help Forum, you can practice and experiment more or less "In Private" untill you get things figured out. If you wish, I'll be happy to guide you through some of the intracacies ... just send me a PM question by clicking on the "PM" button.

frank, the little-white-box quote thing is easy, much easier than other posters tried to tell me. Highlight the bit of text from a post that you want to add as a quote in your own post. Right-click and carry it to the Reply box. Paste it there. At the beginning of the quote you have pasted, click on the Quote box above. At the end of the quote you have pasted, click again on the Quote box above. It is less complicated than it takes me to write it!
booman, where did you get your dove?
Kara:
Thanks for the info!
NH, I love your Song of Solomon....
Thanks Kara. I love it too. I only wish I could post some music with it.
Here's an interesting link on the "song of songs." I'll be in London from March 18 to 23, so I'll have to go take a look at it.

Kara,
...I got it from the profile center. And btw, I tried to do the quote thing, but I couldn't highlight a section. that explains my last posting.
c.i., did you really have to mention that you are going to visit my favorite city in the world? Sheesh...
