Why is this News?
"Adult 'Happy Meals' offer salad, no prize"
Ok, so it's a dumb question. I guess I was just struck by the desperation implied by this "News".
What's happy about it if it aint got a prize, that's what I'd like to know!

Yeh, what's up with that? Kids get a prize. It ain't fair.
No chit! salad? Who the heck wants salad?Gimmee a toy, fer crying out loud!
Sounds more like a "crappy meal" to me!
Well, I suppose that's what you get for looking to CNN for 'news'. I think I make an annual trip to McDonalds and pick up a cheeseburger, but puhhleeze...it's friggin' McDonalds. You grew up on it, you know it's crap, but it's consistent crap, like a family member you love to hate. This move just seems like nonsense to me. Why not just say, "Hey people, if you don't want our fatty fare, just go to Subway, we own that too, Jared is our bitch, so deal with it, and let us do what we do best, suet-saturated fries, and mediocre but consistent burgers." No toy, no point, btw.
It's like getting a box of Cracker Jacks with no toy in it.
Exactly!
And you should know!
If they really want this to work, they need adult toys for adult happy meals....a small vibrator perhaps, coupons for the porno video store, interesting condoms....that would sell like hotcakes.

The concept of a healthy 'adult happy meal' sucks. Unless Mickey D's includes a prize with the meal like say, a condom, it's going to flop.
cav...we're thinking alike. Minds in the gutter!!! Jeesh. I didn't see your post before I posted mine! LOL
Say, does anyone remember the 'McLean' burger? I thought not.
Double lol, doglover! However, we are both right about this, I assure you.
Love your avatar cav. Very apropro.
Actually, that's pretty much what the healthy food at Mickey D's probably tastes like!
The McLean wasn't veggie, but it used extra-lean beef and was dry as sawdust. It didn't last. You make a good point about healthy McD's food experiments....they do suck, because they go cheap, and the kids making $4.00/hour assembling your food have no clue. Healthy McDonalds will always suck.
I have been getting the grilled chicken salad from Burger King for some time. It costs $3.79 and comes with dressing and croutons. (separately)
The salad is served in a huge round bowl, with lots of greens.
A couple of days ago, I noticed their "low carb" menu. I ordered a chicken whopper, also for $3.79. It had the same chicken, in a small oval dish, with a small amount of lettuce and a couple of slices of tomato.
I was shocked. If I had bought the chicken salad, and left off the dressing and croutons, the meal would have been just as low carb, but much more filling.
I'm going back to the chicken salad!
I'll stick to the regular toddler happy meals. I like 'em, and I love the toys.
But there is a prize!

Just wanted to point out that Vegitables and Fruit (tomatoes) have Carbs, the salad probably isnt on the low carb list likely because the number of servings in everything but the croutons gives it more carbs than this whole Atkins diet allows.
Second of all it does come with a "prize" it comes with a pedometer that measures every step you take (while wearing it of course)... to me I'd buy this meal once just for the stinking step counter, easy way to get a semi costly thing. But I do like the idea of Happy Meals for kids being allowed to offer the option of apple slices instead of fries and fruit juice instead of soda pop.
Just a random stopper byer ...

I wonder if this has anything to do with the acclaimed and awarded film "Supersize Me".
Which BTW, I have yet to see.
But reading Fast Food Nation will give you an idea of what McD's is fighting against.
