@OldGrumpy,
The wages of sin are death. People are free to sin and sin causes death and destruction. You can't attribute death and destruction to God or Satan. It is a natural culmination of sin begetting further sin.
Satan is the dark lord who revels in it, tempts people into it, etc. because Satan is the spirit of using pleasure and pain to control people with top-down authority and gain worship for the sake of his ego/pride competition with God.
God is the lord of love and mercy who is saddened by sin and hopes to see forgiveness, mercy, grace, and reform help people live more peacefully and constructively. He doesn't stop people from sinning and reaping the consequences, but He does provide foresight so people can make wiser choices and there is deliverance for people suffering.
It's really not about death. Death is what it is. It is about spiritual transcendence of death, and God is decisively the proponent of that, whereas Satan is the proponent of complete denial of spirituality in order to keep people's spirits totally trapped within the material attachments that cause them to fight and destroy mercilessly in desperate war of survival that they can never ultimately win.
