Any workouts which burn 1000 calories in an hour?

@sapra,
It would be the only one and that would be a terminal workout.

@sapra,
why would anyone want to try such a rigorous workout? Burning 1000 calories in a single bout definitely falls into the “epic” workout category. Typical moderate to strenuous workouts burn between 400-600 calories. If someone is large-bodied, they might burn that much but it wouldn't be too pleasant

I'm no doctor but in order to burn 1000 calories, you might be attempting a bit more than you bargained for.

@Ragman,
If you have the time or energy two workouts a day, burning 500 calories in each could accomplish that goal

@Germlat,
especially because it allows the body to recover a bit in between sessions while achieving the same goal.

Personally I'd rather trim off calories in my food intake rather than attempting a 1000 cal workout.

@Ragman,
Then also if one is overweight more than likely also not very active. The body needs to be conditioned gradually. I think most people aren't fit enough to complete a workout that burns 1000 calories in one session . I wouldn't attempt it..I'd be afraid to give myself a heart attack. Also if you have endocrine problems such as insulin resistance, or thyroid issues it is very difficult to lose weight without the proper diet.

745 calories can be burned in an hour from shoveling snow, according to Spark People.

@Germlat,
Large-bodied people aren't all overweight. Many football and basketball players are large without being overweight. Large runners have more surface area and when running say an hour of sub-6:00 min/mile could burn a large amount of calories per hour...maybe 750-800...though not sure about 1000 calories/hour.

@Ragman,
Yes but you should be aware of your body frame, level of activity, age, medical pre-condition etc..before engaging in strenuous activity.

@Germlat,
Agreed. I'd say off-the-top-of-my-head, there's a very small percentage of the public..nearly all are elite athletes...that could pour out 1000 calories in an hour.

Stop obsessing on the numbers. Learn about good nutrition and how to prepare/cook what your body needs to thrive. Find some activities you are able to do and start doing them.

Your doctor can help you with this. If you need to, surround yourself with activity and weight loss buddies to keep you accountable and motivated.

Track your food intake and exercise output using one of the many free websites out there. Two good ones are sparkspeople.com and loseit.com.

@sapra,
Concurred. I'd say off-the-highest point of-my-head, there's an exceptionally little rate of the public..nearly all are exclusive athletes...that could spill out 1000 calories in a hour.

@Germlat,
For burning too much calories you need to do some hard workouts at gym so it will be good for you to join gym. It depends on your workout that how much calories you can burn.
