does anyone know how to fix my printer. It stopped and said that the cartridge was jammed during a faxing session. So I opened it and cleaned it and now when it returns it keeps jamming. I really don't want to buy a new one if I don't have to. Help.

it actually says carriage jam. when I fix it and close the door it just keeps banging on the side

Try removing all the ink cartridges, shutting off the power, turning it back on and then replace all the ink cartridges.
This should cause the print head to reset itself.
If that doesn't work, here's a link to the HP site's online manual for that printer. Search through the troubleshooting pages to see if it has a solution. If not, call the tech support number found on the same site.
