No, the definite article is not needed, and should not be used. The sentences are fine, otherwise.

I have some questions about THE, but I am not sure whether this is an exception. For PLOT, usually we need some determiners or plurality: a/the plot or plots. But is it correct English?:(my sentence)
-In terms of plot, the novel is excellent.
