You know the song 'This love' by Maroon 5.
Such a good song. Very popular here in Korea as well.
The tune begins with
" I was so high, I did not recognize the fire burning in her eyes"
I get to wonder what 'high' here would imply.
It could be rephrased like
" I was so embarrassed that I did not notice the fire.."
according to some Internet sites, of which I'm not so sure.
My dictionary says a lot about 'high' and what was noticible was
'the state of being intoxicated from a drug'.
If I regarded it as
'I was so intoxicated from a drug so I couldn't notice the fire...',
then, would it be like I went too far?
What would 'high' here remind you guys first?
One more thing, from the looks of the lyrics, I'd say the song contains somewhat erotic or gaudy contents, such as 'pressure on her hips,
sinking my fingers into every inch of you.' and so on.
It wouldn't be wrong to say the song is a bit loud, would it?
I know there is no point.
I just want to make sure if I understood the song well enough.
Would you please comment? I'd appreciate it.
@SMickey,
My immediate thought was of an elevated mood due to the natural high of being in love.
Mmm slightly raunchy, slightly tawdry.
Loud and gaudy aren't usually used in this context.
@laughoutlood,
I forgot to say thank you for your helpful reply.
Being high doesn't necessarily describe a person who is in good mood thanks to some drugs, right?
Thank you for clearing that up.
