Chronically Red Eyes

Sat 18 May, 2013 01:35 am
I have had extremely red eyes everyday for the past 10 years. I have now seen 2 eye specialists who do not know what's wrong with them as they say there is nothing wrong with my eyes and it's not allergies. I also got my eyes tested and I have 20/20 vision.

They sometimes feel tired even when I get a full nights sleep and eye drops don't reduce the redness at all.

Sometimes during the day they might clear up for 20 minutes for whatever reason, but then they will return to being red. They are the worst first thing in the morning but do not really get much better as the days progresses.

I eat healthy and have tried so many things to fix this issue but to no avail.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
James

@jgibbs36,
Has anyone checked your blood pressure and your cholesterol lately? The redness is from blood vessels - perhaps this is a circulatory issue.

@jgibbs36,
Perhaps an allergy of some sort? Or circulatory issue? I'd see an allergy specialist if it were me.

I had my blood pressure checked about a year ago and it was all good but I will get it checked again to be safe. I'm only 20 so I would like to think I'm in pretty good health.

I will look in to the allergy situation too. Wouldn't that mean my eyes should be itchy though?

Thanks!

@jgibbs36,
I've been listening and read you have been to different doctors, and that must be frustrating.
Have you seen an ophthalmologist? They're the ones who know (well, most of them) what can go on to cause trouble with eyes. With the length of time this has been going on, you need someone to listen to you.

@jgibbs36,
if eye specialists aren't able to diagnose your problem, how could expect anyone here who are NOT medical experts ... to advise you?

If it were me, I'd keep looking and find some better medical experts.

Oh yes, and stay away from ambulance chasing lawyers and their spambots.
