@Loh Jane,
Maybe grammar okay Jane but "to tell others" bothers me while wondering about "always"

In response to others' tribulations my smug colleague has a dreamlike fact or unreal solution at the tip of his tongue

@Loh Jane,
It isn't clear what you're trying to say.

Can you give examples of these "dreamlike facts"?

The colleague creates solutions to what, exactly?

If they are unreal, how are they solutions? Maybe you mean to say false solutions.

@InfraBlue,
In a similar vein, I don't like the idea of creating facts of any kind. As Dale says, the grammar is fine.

Depending on the meaning intended, I might substitute vague for dreamlike.

@Loh Jane,
My preference is to delete the reference to 'dreamlike facts', and keep the 'unreal solutions'. If you really want to be redundant, use 'fanciful'.

My smug colleague always creates fanciful or unreal solutions to tell others.

Don't use 'fanciful facts', though.

@Loh Jane,
Jane I'm sure you're as intelligent as the rest of us, perhaps vastly moreso, and you're to be congratulated for your perseverance

Perhaps you're looking for something like this, Jane.

My smug colleague always plays fast and loose with the facts [when speaking with others].

My smug colleague always stretches the truth [when speaking with others].
