Fellow Bostonians: How many of us wished we had an assault weapon last night?

@BillRM,

I love it when you get all philosophical, Bill.

And I remain perplexed that the citizens of the most powerful country in the world, militarily (by a factor of 20x) can be so easily trained to be fearful, and so easily led.

@McTag,
Yes, why can't they Stay Calm and Carry On and maintain the stiff upper lip of the self-congratulating British stereo-type?

The fact that you concoct bizarre stereotypes about the reasons why free people choose to have guns, does not mean that anyone actually acquires guns for those reasons.

LOL I am as fearful of having a fire in my home as I had a number of large fire extinguishers around the home and one in my car also!!!!!

Now fool in any case in the year 1992 my area did not have a fully functioning phone system, police department,fire department and electric power for months.

There was in fact no way to call for the fire department or the police department for months on end and in an area with 30,000 plus there was not even electric service and all you would hear is the whine of home generators.

People who live in those neighborhoods set up armed patrols and kept doing so until the governments both Federal and state and local got their acts together.

For some time postage employees openly broke Federal law and was openly armed in the post offices in that area until once more the governments at all level got their act together.

One class 5 hurricane can turn a fairly large area into a third world as far as security in concern be it police or fire.

Footnote the government send in the 101 airborne but did not allow them to have bullets for their weapons and when the local gangs found out about that we was damn lucky not to have some of our young soldiers killed.

Have you ever been photographed with your gun?

Have you ever looked at yourself in a mirror, holding a gun?

No as a matter of fact for myself and I find that kind of strange as I have thousands of family pictures that I had converted to jpg going back generations and I could not find one picture with a gun in any of them.

Not even one with my old bow and arrow for that matter. Hell the nearest I have of weapons are some fishing poles.

Next time my wife and I go to the range we will need to get some pictures.

?????????

In any case I find that I wish like hell that I have a few pictures of myself and my father and my mother at the gun range.

My poor father was always out shot by my mother and myself even those in WW2 he was listed as an expert markman with a rifle.

My now 92 years old mother would loved shooting my 1911 A 45 at the range and showing up my late father with her shooting skills.

@BillRM,
SO sorry but any picture of anybody with a gun winds up making the portratit look like a damn criminal. The only picture of me with a gun is one in which Im siiting in a Huy with my feet up on a chain gun. I look like Clyde Barrow with a beard.
Another really simple ass picture are these shotw of hunters holding up the hea of the deer they just blew away, like it was some accomplishment.

I never had gone hunting and find the hunting channel somewhat distasteful when they state is that not a lovely deer or game bird just before blowing it away.

I am surely not on any firm moral ground in that regard being a meat eater myself and knowing if it was needed I would kill game animals myself.

It just odd to me as just after a turkey for example had shown his full color feathers in a manner that take your breath away you then blow the animal away.

@BillRM,
actually we enjoy hunting here at the farm. My wife used to go out for pheasant and I still hunt Canada geese and rabbit.
The rule is that "We eat everything we kill". My son had never (at least as far as I know) killed another living thing wantonly. I, as a kid, killed a robin with a beebee gun and my father was so good at the guilt trip that it was a complete eye opening for me in recognizing what life is worth, all life. I till remember that day.

Trophy hunters are perhaps the biggest bunch of narcissists out there. They waste huuge amounts of money going to hunt some animal and then just take the head. Even in AFrica, some of the countries do NOT allow the meat to be distributed for "bush meat", and most of those dude hunters wouldnt give a rats.
