Context:
Surgery clinical trial results selectively reported

(Reuters Health) - Selective reporting of positive results from drug clinical trials is a well-documented problem, but a new study finds that trials of surgical treatments have an even worse track record.

Researchers who looked at hundreds of surgery clinical trials found that many set out to answer one question but ended up focusing on something else, leading to less reliable evidence being published. Others never bothered to state a goal for their study or published results while the trial was still going on.

"We know that this is a huge problem in medicine, and one that we've known about for three decades," Dr. Ben Goldacre, a UK doctor and founder of Alltrials.net told Reuters Health by email.

Why Mark such reaction

Clearly Ori from the clash above

Quote:

isn't entirely clear, an immediate knee-jerk of Your Typical Averages Clod (me) being, "Just exactly what is it about the selective reporting that's a problem"

But lacking further input from Mark, in answer to your q yes I'd agree with Eng

No, not really. "Frequently reported on" is probably the best translation. If you read that "Poor housing conditions in this city are well documented", there has not really been any proving going on. It just means that the conditions have been reported on many times or in great detail.

Well, I think I've put it in a far too larger context - the philosophical idea "all men are created equal." Razz

You've sounded like that he's a rat, a troublemaker. Very Happy

I wonder whether your pet often pisses in your fruitbowl while you sleep and you've mistakenly drunk it a lot, which makes you angry and you come here to seek comfort by throwing yourself into a temper tantrum for no reason? Razz
