Sorry to hear this, Beth. The loss of an animal pal is one of the most crushing blows anyone ever deals with. We love them…and get unconditional love from them in return. He was a great looking pup.

@Frank Apisa,
Thank you Frankie. I always say that Bailey really taught me about love and trust. Or maybe we taught each other.

@ehBeth,
Oh no...
..

Mr Bailey 17 years (119) bless - that's a long time and only because of the love for your parents and what a last adventure, now with the little girl.

Beth, I know your heart is hurting and Sets... sending the biggest of biggest of hugs...

Much love.

At some time early this morning, Mr. Bailey, The Girl's companion for more than seventeen years, passed away. Yesterday, she took him out in a wagon for a little adventure around the neighborhood. He had stopped eating, though, so the end was inevitable. He will be missed.

So sad for both of you.....but what a life of love and richness he had.

That pain is so awful though.

@ehBeth,
Sorry to hear this Beth. I'm Sending you a virtual hug.

He'd obviously won the doggy lottery, and he'd had a wonderful long life.

They leave a massive gap though, don't they.

@jespah,
Thank you friends.

My first pic with a webcam was with Mr. B. His introduction to two new pack members, first Cleo and then Bella, happened at Abuzz and A2k.

He was a fine gentleman who was taught the joys of snuggling by the girl dogs who joined the pack.

He is the last of a group of four dogs who had many great times together. Bailey, Buck, Kelly and Cleo. End of an era. Beanie and Chloe now live where Buck and Kelly did. We're going to have to find a Calvin or Kevin to bring the gang back up to full strength.

This entire thread reaffirms my belief that loss is much worse that death. I admire the courage shown here. My wife and I concluded, upon the death of our Maine Coon and Border Collie (both around the age of 17), that we would not make ourselves so vulnerable again. We have now given up vacations in order to be a steady source of food for feral cats.
