What? "dashed on" used as a noun?

Context:
Then they pushed forward, leaving a bloody trail, and escaped to the northwest. Ma Chao, meanwhile, heedless of his own fatigue or his mount's dashed on, gradually leaving his followers behind.

@oristarA,
It looks like a verb. Maybe we can rewrite it, and add a comma.

Ma Chao, meanwhile, heedless of his own fatigue, or his mount's fatigue, dashed on.

That sentence had me going for a minute, but since it didn't make sense, I did it my way. There sure a lot of commas now, but I think I got the meaning right.

It IS oddly worded. Probably better as:
Meanwhile, Ma Chao, heedless of his own fatigue or his mount's fatigue, dashed on.

dashed on means "took off or rushed forward."

@oristarA,
No need to rewrite; just use commas correctly.

Ma Chao meanwhile, heedless of his own fatigue or his mount's, dashed on, gradually leaving his followers behind.
