Did I mess things up from the beginning or is there still a chance?

My suggestion is: see him sometime when you're sober.

I'm not being cruel or sarcastic. Well perhaps a bit sarcastic. But you can't be any judge of what kind of guy he is unless you're clear-headed. Equally important, he can't judge what kind of woman you are unless you are yourself, which you're not after a night on the town.

Maybe it's messed up. Maybe it's not. Who knows until you spend some proper, human time together.

Spend a Sunday afternoon in the park. That way you'll have a nice memory of how it really began if it goes on. Or if it doesn't at least you found out in a nice way that you can both feel positive about.

If you like him just be direct but if don't like him just leave him alone. It's not necessary to give him some hopes.
