I was about to allude to a security concern
that I had when I was home alone at age 8,
but then, on reflection, I remembered that going back to age 3,
I was reposing in bed, fondling revolvers in my memory
that I 'd seen on the police. It was esthetic allure.
We kids described them as being: "
neat"; we
discussed guns a lot!
Like cars, I like their looks,
some better than others. (No offense, but the English Webley does not grab me.)
In gunnery ranges of NY, I have been accosted (not molested)
by the police who commended me upon upon the beauty of my
personal ordnance; e.g., my blued 2 inch .38 caliber Taurus 85
Revolver with
gold-plated trim and polished
rosewood grips,
my 1940 9mm German Luger P-O8, or my 3.5 inch barreled
.45 Ruger Vaquero in stainless steel mirror & my .44 Magnum
7.5 inch barreled Ruger SuperBlackhawk. I tend to favor
short barreled revolvers; compact.
I have several 2 inch .38 caliber revolvers, one of which I carried
everywhere for years beginning when I was 8 years of age, until
I found out about the Philippine Insurrection, whereupon I up-graded
to a .44 revolver with hollowpointed slugs for maximal
stopping power.
For many years, my primary defense weapon was a 2 inch double action
.44 caliber Taurus Model 445 revolver in stainless steel mirror.
(It saved me one night, when I was fired upon), but my friend,
Donald, in NY has convinced me to change to my .45 caliber
single action Ruger Vaquero, in that .45 Long Colt ammunition
is less likely to overpenetrate than is a .44, even with hollowpointed slugs.
The recoil is more comfortable, being a heavier revolver with a lighter load.
I 'm in some doubt about this. I might revert to the 2 inch .44 special.
At one of my gunnery ranges, I encountered a Boyscout Troop,
about 2O boys aged about 12, with their Scoutmaster, probably
one of their fathers. I was able to give them a few $1OO.oo for
ammunition & ice cream, and show them some of my guns.
Thay too, were pleased. I shud have exhorted them to fonetic spelling,
but I lacked the presence of mind for that. Do thay have ice cream in England ?

Or would you call it a fixation, given there's no sexual element?
Yes, a fixation or an obsession;
I think about guns and
liberty of their convenient use a lot.
In the real world, I discuss them a lot with friends who r knowledgable
of guns and we go target shooting. I 'm a fairly decent shot, not bad,
but I was never good enuf to be on a gunnery team
at any of the schools that I have attended.
The enjoyment of gunnery movement is largely pro-family,
very wholesome. Families ofen attend the meetings,
multiple generations, picnics. I prefer target shooting to ball games.
There survives a letter of Thomas Jefferson to his 12 year old nephew
wherein he counsels the boy to always take his gun with him
when he goes out to walk, and to practice with it for proficiency.
Jefferson recommends gunnery practice over ball games; I agree.
I have never met a person of either gender
who said or implied that his or her erotic ideation included guns.
Its like oil and water.
Guns represent the ability to
CONTROL the situation
in a predatory emergency. Every predatory event is a contest of power.
The victim
needs to bring
MORE power to bear upon the predator
(be he man or beast) to enable him to prevail.
Personal possession of defensive guns results in
self-reliance,
as distinct from reliance upon the collective for one's very existence.
It tends to promote
Individualism and
libertarianism. Thay r the soul of America.
