NORTH CHARLESTON, SC - North Charleston Police say a man shot himself in the foot Monday night.

According to a spokesperson for the North Charleston Police Department, police and EMS responded to Comstock Avenue at Davis Street just before 7 p.m. Monday for a man suffering from a gunshot wound between his toes.

The victim originally told police he was shot by an unknown person in the area, but several people in the area told investigators that the man was allegedly seen playing with a gun when it went off.

Later, the victim admitted to police that he accidentally shot himself.

(CNN) -- A 4-year-old boy was shot and killed by his 4-year-old female cousin while they were playing with a gun, Detroit police said.

The shooting happened Thursday in a home on the city's west side.

There were three children -- all cousins -- at the home at the time of the incident, said Detroit Deputy Chief Rodney Johnson. The third child was 5, he said.

Detroit Police Public Information Officer Adam Madera said the children found a "long gun" under a bed, pulled it out and began to play with it.

"At this time, although it's early in the investigation, this appears to be a tragic accident," Madera said.

A man from Independence Township, Michigan accidentally shot and killed himself on Monday while teaching his girlfriend about gun safety, the Oakland Press reports.

The 36-year-old, whose name has not been released, was showing his girlfriend how his three handguns are safe when they aren’t loaded, according to the Detroit Free Press. He was attempting to demonstrate the safety of the handguns by holding them to his head and pulling the trigger.

The third gun fired, and the man was struck in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities in Perris were investigating the accidental shooting death of a 5-year-old child on Tuesday night.


The shooting was reported at 5:21 p.m. at a home in the 31000 block of Wolfskill Avenue, according to Riverside County Sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Albert Martinez.

The child was dead by the time help arrived, Martinez said.

ORLANDO, Fla. —Two people were hit with one bullet Friday night in an accidental shooting in Orlando, police said.

Police responded to the shooting in the 8200 block of Le Mesa Street around 7:43 p.m., said Lt. John Holysz, Orlando Police Department spokesman.

Ventura Santos Mateo was inside the home handling the gun when it accidentally discharged, Holysz said. The bullet hit a 12-year-old girl's arm, Holysz said.

An 8-year-old boy died from a gunshot wound Saturday and Cincinnati police say the boy's older brother accidentally shot him.

Officers and emergency crews responded at 4:15 p.m. to a home on La Salle Avenue in the East Price Hill neighborhood.

Lake Charles, LA (AP) -

A 20-year-old Lake Charles man is dead following an accidental shooting Thursday morning at a home near the corner of Louie and Ryan streets.

Deputy Chief Mark Kraus said the victim, Erick Alexander Perez, shot himself with a .22 revolver.

"(The) investigation revealed this was an accidental shooting," Kraus said. "The victim wasn't familiar with the firearm, which he obtained two days prior. He failed to realize that it was loaded with more that one round and shot himself in front of a witness."

According to Oklahoma City police, the 5-year-old boy was with his dad in a dressing room while the dad was trying on a gun holster.

The dad said he put his own holster and Glock 9 millimeter down on the bench and moments later, the boy picked up the gun and fired it.

The hollow point bullet struck the boy's hand and his dad's leg.

The father said he threw the gun on the ground and yelled for someone to call 911.

"There was a guy standing there, holding the little boy in his arms and all I could see was some blood splatter on his arm," she explained. "There were employees taking off their shirts and I guess tending to someone on the floor and by then, they were pushing everybody out of the way."

A Rock Falls student was killed in what police are calling an accidental shooting.

According to a report by Sauk Valley.com, 15-year-old Matthew Madsen Anderson, a Rock Falls High School freshman was killed Saturday, March 1, 2014.
