I wish that I had been offered hands-on firearms
safety and accuracy training at an earlier age (than 8).
I'd have loved that.

Colorado man dies after accidental shooting in Park City

By Amy Renee Leiker
The Wichita Eagle

A Colorado man accidentally shot by a friend with a .22 magnum Friday evening in Park City has died, police said.

Eloy Portillo-Meza was pronounced dead about 12:20 a.m. Saturday after he was rushed in critical condition to Wesley Medical Center with a single gunshot wound to his abdomen, Park City Police Chief Phil Bostian said. The 36-year-old Denver man was visiting the owner of the gun — a friend who lives at the home, in the 1600 block of East Gary, where the shooting occurred — when the .22 magnum discharged around 9 p.m. Friday, he said.

“The (gun) owner thought he had unloaded the gun and was in the process of putting it back together, and that’s when it went off,” Bostian said.

An evening of being home alone ended Saturday night with a 13-year-old boy shooting his 6-year-old sister at their Oakland Park residence, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.

The girl was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where she was listed in critical but stable condition, said Dani Moschella, Sheriff's Office spokeswoman.

The agency is investigating the circumstances of the shooting, "but it initially appears to be accidental," she said.

I saw the tag: "Armed and Stupid".
Does someone believe that ONLY the intellectual elite have right to defend their lives ?
A mental Samurai Class ?
The Founders of the Bill of Rights did not see it that way; I don't.

I remember reading in the NY Daily News,
in another century, of a birthday party
for a young officer of the NYC Police Dept.,
in the Birthday Boy's home basement, full of Police,
some of whom were clowning around, posing
for photography with a COCKED .38 revolver
closely aimed at the host's head before it discharged,
effecting both an encephalectomy and a mass, frantic exodus
of escaping Police.

These incidents are ignored by those gun-lovers who value their guns more than their family members. Go figure.

@OmSigDAVID,
They "should have been schooled?" Boy, your ignorance is showing.

A gun is a lethal weapon. Any parent who doesn't teach their kids the proper handling of those weapons are in the thousands - if not millions. That's the reason why kids shoot their own siblings - year after year after year after year.

You get the idea, don't you?

Should-of, could-of, would-of are legend.

I LOVE it when the underdog applies greater force
than the predator e.g., a zebra fractures a lion's jaw with a kick,
or a robber is shot to death by his victim, in the street.
