A 76-year old Meridian man accidentally shot himself while cleaning a handgun Thursday night, according to Meridian police.

The man was attempting to unload the gun inside his home when it went off.

The bullet passed through the webbing of his left hand, but did not hit any bone, police said. He was treated and released at a local hospital.

Boy, 3, dead after shooting himself with his 35-year-old grandmother's gun

A 35-year-old woman has been arrested after her grandson, three, fatally shot himself with her loaded hand gun yesterday morning.

Police officers were sent to the home of Rachel Spry in Yuma, Arizona, on reports that a child had been shot.

When they arrived, they found Spry's three-year-old grandson suffering from a serious shotgun wound. He died later in hospital.

Colorado man dies after accidental shooting in Park City

A Colorado man accidentally shot by a friend with a .22 magnum Friday evening in Park City has died, police said.

Eloy Portillo-Meza was pronounced dead about 12:20 a.m. Saturday after he was rushed in critical condition to Wesley Medical Center with a single gunshot wound to his abdomen, Park City Police Chief Phil Bostian said. The 36-year-old Denver man was visiting the owner of the gun — a friend who lives at the home, in the 1600 block of East Gary, where the shooting occurred — when the .22 magnum discharged around 9 p.m. Friday, he said.

“The (gun) owner thought he had unloaded the gun and was in the process of putting it back together, and that’s when it went off,” Bostian said.

An evening of being home alone ended Saturday night with a 13-year-old boy shooting his 6-year-old sister at their Oakland Park residence, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.

The girl was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where she was listed in critical but stable condition, said Dani Moschella, Sheriff's Office spokeswoman.

The agency is investigating the circumstances of the shooting, "but it initially appears to be accidental," she said.

PARIS, TEXAS -- A Paris man was airlifted to a Dallas hospital after an accidental shooting Monday.

The Paris Police Department responded to a call early Monday morning at the 2600 block of Briarwood.

The 49- year- old male told police a pistol that was being carried in a vest holster went off and the bullet struck the victim in the groin area.

Man shoots self while cleaning soda from gun in Colorado Springs

A 24-year-old man accidently shot himself after spilling soda on his pistol while sitting in his car in Colorado Springs on Saturday afternoon.

The victim spilled the drink onto his handgun at about 3:30 p.m. "After wiping it dry and while replacing the magazine in the gun, the gun accidently discharged," according to the Colorado Springs police web site.

The gunshot injured the man's left hand, left thigh and left calf.

MURRAY, Ky. — A Murray State University student has died after he accidentally shot himself in the head with a handgun.

Calloway County Coroner Ricky Harris said Clayton Law, 23, of Elizabethtown died early Sunday morning when he fired the handgun.
