@georgeob1,
True. Here in Tulsa, we do not have serious snow removal equipment. They will throw a little sand and salt mixture on the major streets, but that's about it. The problem is
getting to the major streets. The neighborhoods get iced in.
I spent a winter in Cleveland, Ohio some years ago. They had 77" of snow that year. (Tulsa averages about 7-10".) But even Cleveland's suburban neighborhood streets were cleared by 8 a.m. each morning. Compared to Tulsa drivers, people in Cleveland did not know how to drive on snow and ice. They rarely have to, and they skid all over the place when they do encounter it. We get more practice than they do, despite the fact that they get ten times as much snow.
Today, however, I am breathing a big sigh of relief. We were expecting a major snowstorm last night and this morning that would close everything, but we lucked out. It just missed us!
I think I'll have a hot chocolate anyway, Wassau. It just sounds good.
