@Lola,
Thank you kindly, Lola.

Debacle? No, I'm pretty much past-tense though present on occasion.

BTW, I like your place and hope to drop in from time to time.

It wasn't Ethel who said "whips up girls, they're begging for it". It was Lola.

@Lola,
The Abuzz software and format were different. You had to start a new thread after so many pages and posts or you just ran out of space. Not so here on A2k.

Btw, I'll bet Debacle was a sometime customer at Ethel's. I know I was.

I always did on Abuzz at Ethel at the Coffee House.

I was there quite a few times, Lola. You prolly don't recall; you've seen so many faces over the years to recollect all of them. And especially not one tucked back in the corner behind the funny papers, staying mum except for the occasional heehaw.

@FOUND SOUL,
This is Joe's post that was temporarily lost in the bump situation:

@Joe Nation,
Sweetheart, you can keep serving me up that stuff indefinitely. Keep it coming.

Do you ever write plays? I could visualize that scene, hear their voices.

Consider me a fan, or a groupie, or a camp follower (that one is only if you're really campy), or your personal claqueur, but don't deprive me of reading more..

@ossobuco,
I made a summer soup. Its light and refreshing

1Make chunks of any vegetable , get a big pile of em (taters, carrots, shrooms, green onions, summer squash, halved garlics, whole tellicherries, and you MUST have about 3 tomatoes all chopped up)
Fry Up 1 pound of bacon and cut into 1/2 inch chunks

MAke a broth of chicken stock
Add veggies and bring to a simmer till the veggies are done
add two whole cloves and the bacon
Simmer for about 15 minutes and then add slices of a half a lemon and simmer another 10 minutes.
Serve.
Its really good.
We had it with a Romaine salad for supper with a garic infused creamy balsamic dressing (My own mix)

@farmerman,
The "Joe of Old" would grace us with numbers of his gems. I was worried that ,over the last few years , his heart went out of it. Sounds a bit like hes getting his voice back . I, for one have always travelled up and down the untraveled byways of many A2K threads just to read his stuff.

Hes as close to a "living treasure" as weve got on this station.

@ossobuco,
I don't think Ethelred and Ethel/Lola were he same person.

But I could be wrong.

@Lustig Andrei,
Oh - that was just a guess, I don't remember the thread. Didn't seem right from the small bit I remember about Ethelred.

@farmerman,
In about a week, it'll be 9 years that I've been hanging out at A2K, and I can't believe I never encountered the "Joe of Old". I'm very glad he's come to the Coffee House.

Didn't A2K used to have an entire forum devoted to writers--in the days when the forums were all listed on the main page (a format I much preferred)?

Wassau, please bring Joe anything he wants--and put it on my tab.

And, I'm in the mood for a treat. Could I please have some of your cheesecake stuffed strawberries.

I remember such a forum, but don't rightly recall who ran it. Could it have been blatham? I remember posting to it a time or two, but that's about all I can say without lyin' about it.

@firefly,
Joes unique style wasn't necessarily posting on threads set up for writers. His style was more to turn out a superbly written , and more often than not, a totally different perspective on the thread at hand.
His style is one that is never forced, like hes never trying SOUND like hes writing some good stuff, you just discover that its great after you've read it.

Ive been a fan for a long time and Ive missed his really great stuff that I can assure you was really great (sorry you missed it). Were the more recent turns in his life responsible? I don't know. I figgered , whenever hed get around toit , hed get around to it.

So as not to make his head swell, I must say though that I am kinda tired of his patented "Joe" sign offs , with the parentheses and all.

I knew your name sounded familiar, Debacle. Welcome now to the a2k version of Wassau's Cafe.

Osso,
Ethelred the Unready was the other Ethel on Abuzz. We're not the same person. I was never happy with my name, Ethel. I chose it because it was a name that I would never choose...........going for anonymity on the internet at the time. I think Lola suits me much better.

@farmerman,
I remember being hit in the head by a bit by JoeN that talked about a homeless person (part of his day, whatever day that was).

Osso(I still like the parentheses)buco

Oh, yeah, I always read his posts.

Lola, I think the coffee house needs to upgrade its coffee cups:
