@ehBeth,
Those are very fetching wontons, ehBeth.

I've had quite a day. Toast and coffee early, but not followed by the expected salmon loaf slice as I got busy with the early part of the month veggie roasting (ate some of those instead) and mackerel fishcake making and then went out back to empty the cooled potato water (f'cakes) on the Caesalpina gilliesii and decided I might move it to the front yard but not today.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Caesalpinia_July_2011-1.jpg

Decided instead to fix the damned tub drain in the so called guest bathroom with the old baking soda vinegar boiling water rigamarole. Waited to finish the cooking, natch.
Also checking news and a2k and some NYer articles I'd not read yet. Paid some bills, now there's anxiety.
Just got going on the drain maneuvers (don't get me started with these crumby cheap fiberglass inserts) when I went to the kitchen again and waded in a Katy puddle, didn't see it, had missed it when letting her out. She was barking to be let in... vociferously.

Oh, dear. The antibiotics seem not quite to overwhelm the infection. More on that, another thread, tomorrow.
Gave her some minty oatmeal treats.
Clean up. Washed my shoes, which are faux clogs, your basic plastic, after the floor.
Then back to the f/n tub drain. Started to worry it wouldn't work this time.
But it did.

Now having a nice glass of white wine, thanks to Wassau.
I'm overdue for some of my own garbanzo bean/pasta/lots of stuff soup.

Ok, try this photo -

I may be forced to dig up my own and I'm not in the mood.

Can we order this monstrosity here or will we be banned if we make a request for this wicked beast of a sandwich or simply bring it into the coffee house from the street?

You can ask for anything in this cafe, tsar. Just speak and Wassau will bring.

Well, if anyone missed me today, feel satisfied that I was struggling with my income tax return. I hope to get a real live person to speak to tomorrow at Turbo Tax..........There's an error (their's) but their directions about how to correct it (and it must be corrected or the bottom falls out and drops giant eggplants on the heads of the people below) don't work......infuriating! I just know that trying to get a person on the phone will mean further frustration. This is not good for my mood!

Tomorrow I'll stop in here at the cafe and get a cup of Wassau's strongest coffee before proceeding with my task.

Good night all.

@Lola,
I make you two predictions.

1) Tomorrow, she will answer.

2) Your second question will be "What language do you think you are speaking?".

It was a single sex girls' public school and we were taught by ancient mistresses who wore tweed suits, brogues and were sans cosmetics! Our uniform was dire - black and all-concealing. There was one man allowed on our hallowed grounds - the head groundsman, ancient of course! I loved learning - loved books - but wasn't happy about being in the bowels of an academic sausage machine whose sole purpose seemed to be to take young and naive girls, grind 'em, mould 'em, and spit 'em out as neat little sausages at the other end. University was the aim - Oxbridge of course - but this sausage had abandoned ship and was off to the bright lights of London. Do you blame me?

Not being specific but generally that is a sign of a froward looker feeling frisky like any feline forager.

There can be no blame. That you mention blame signifies possible reservations of your own. Had you gone to Oxford you might have been run over by a bus or now become the matriarch of an extensive country mansion.

My superficial impression is that your schooldays did you more good that most people's do. Single sex schools are definitely superior.

Where's the science then? Same old story eh? The conversational gambit which claims an affinity with science without the science. A pose. A polishing of the persona for the illumination and appreciation of those who are impressed with such nonsense.

My experience of the two gents over many years assures me that neither possess one single scientific cell in their bodies. Science is merely used to beat their gums about personal considerations.

Science has been name-dropped on us all. End of story.

@spendius,
still balmy after all these years eh spendi?

You seem to get all excited and annoyed at other peoples lives. Im sure you could annoy the crap out of yourself if you tried.

When your only schtick is playing the old man swearing at kids playing on his lawn it does get tired quickly. Can you do something more , say, creative??

I for one, am tired of your run-on, loosely linked, name dropping prose, jam packed with all the vapidity Ive come to expect from only you (OH YEH, and H2O-man)

@farmerman,
Do you remember Kitchen Pete? He was an Englishman in the chef trade. Last i knew, he had opened a place in Prague. I once said how little the idea of bangers and mash appealed to me as a breakfast food. He said that was because i had never tasted his mash. Not long after that, The Girl and i began to make mash with white potatoes, sweet potatoes, turnips and carrots, and sometimes radishes. I also had some genuine bangers about that time, a spiced pork sausage which was greasy to a heavenly degree. I changed my attitude entirely. Then i found out that bangers and mash are often served with either a brown gravy or an onion gravy; as well, it seems it is often served with baked beans or peas--but i think for breakfast i'd pass on that.

It is harder to find genuine foods from the British Isles in the stores in Canadia, but you can still find good quality bangers--truly greasy delights!
