The thinking man's perfect kitchen utensil.

She is lovely and so articulate too. A Christmas cake with raisins, currents and prunes that look like "squished teddy bear's noses, "desecrated and blended with coffee liqueur and a "ghost of chocolate flavor".......and other ingredients, equally fluent. Yum..........that and the new Pope with his genuine concern for the poor. Sister Simone and Nuns on the Bus. It's enough to warm my heart and give me a cause to hope (that and the pills are working). Thanks to Spendi for that u-tube video and to MSNBC for the Nuns on the Bus and the Pope.

It might be that it is Gaida's fault that she hasn't got the hips of Nigella due to her askesis in relation to yum-yummy-yum yums.

That entire thought made absolutely No sense to me and I am probably speaking for a few others.

Thanks be to the earth spirit for people like spendi. They serve as examples where "How to not write well" is taken to a high art.

Too funny fm! Still, I thought she was elegant (the cook) and well spoken. And the cake looked delightful. But maybe I'm just hungry, as usual.

I gather that was a promo for the liqueur Tia Maria, similar to Kahlua. One can make a fair version out of coffee, sugar, vodka, and time.

I think you're right here. And it's good to know one can make the same cake with those easier ingredients. But I do love coffee liqueur. And teddy bear's noses? Funny.

(never did see what you think is the thinking man's perfect utensil)

I think spendi meant to say that Nigella herself is the kitchen equipment. Nice compliment, if one can over look spendi's clearly provocative imitation of an objectification of woman kind. Spendi is a fake objectifier. He seems to be very clearly in love. But I could be wrong.

Those men who take it upon themselves to speak on behalf of women are a low form of pond life imo. They must assume that women are incapable of speaking for themselves to begin with and they have an interest in them continuing to be incapable in order for them to set them straight which is a process requiring the use of the vocal chords authoritatively.

Thus the title. Pride alone is ugly. But you must admit, spendi that Jane Austen writes with eloquence and her insights are profound. Or maybe that's your point. Sometimes it's a little hard to tell without clarification.

By the by or not. I think Setanta has given ample proof that he understands very well.

In any case, I offer your entire post here as evidence of my conjecture about you. Just call me nosy.

Here, sit down here next to Beth. She's recommending some dirty rice. Sounds good to me.

No, i don't think so, just inept. A look at Clothing's three posts suggests that while it might be a bot account, it is more likely just someone who speaks English very poorly, and who hopes to post spam at some time soon.

Thanks......I'm learning, trying to learn. Always at it anyway.

I love poached eggs these days, too. Used to hate them, now they are a delight. Some bacon, or smoked salmon, or with anything, really.

I'm having the same problem vonny is having. But I guess I can chalk it up to the building of my character.

Looks like todays weather will be benign, a day in early spring. I see mee in the dirt like a little kid in a sandbox. I must get my special "pepper grass" leaf lettuce crop in. I make a special Mesculen mix with cole plants like hot mustard and mix it with red leaf and deer tonguelettuces. I plant them as rows of little clumps that can be harvested all at once per clump. Peas are in, as are redbeets. Now I need to do onions and do an early cultivation of my garlic and spinach that I planted last fall.

I wish, I wish, I wish I had time to plant a vege garden. But I guess I'll just have to enjoy your's vicariously.......so keep us up on your progress, please. Baby animals in the barn, clumps of lettuses in the garden, peas and redbeets.......delicious fun. All my plants these days are in pots and I have no place to put them at the moment. But I guess I just can't have everything I want. But I do wish I could.

How would I know? I don't watch Ms Lawson.s programmes.

And anyway--we are all alone aren't we? Has your use of the cheap jibe caused you to have to deny it so much as if you are the centre of a social whirl of gaiety.

They may simply be taking Philip Larkin's advice for all I know. Or that of Diogenes.

One thing is sure and it's that Nigella obviously wallows in the knowledge.

What a wonderful lazy Friday. I needed a good sleep-in and I got it. Woke up to the alarm ... hit snooze for about 3 hours Very Happy Shocked Very Happy

The ancient girldog and I enjoyed that.

I was so tired when I got home from work yesterday night that I left my coat outside the house!

I think I need some lazy comfort food. Wassau! can you rustle up some tuna with dill relish and onion on toasted rye? and ask Sybil if she can make a couple of those nice Turkish potato omelettes she made last week. They sure took a long time to make but they were worth the wait. I know Set could go for another one or several ... and I'll steal a couple of forkfuls after I get my tuna.

Anyone got a nice juicy trashy magazine I can relax behind?

A soldier, in British English, is a thin strip of bread or toast; the soldiers that a slice is cut into are reminiscent of soldiers on parade. The toast is sliced in this manner so that it can be dipped into a soft boiled egg that has had the top of its shell removed.

And I did have them for lunch today - thanks dlowan - delicious!

Exactly.
I do love Hank Williams. My brother used to pay his records over and over again when he was a teenager. Fond memories of my big brother at home. Unfortunately he died too young. He made it only to age 52; but he was a sweetie and I miss him.

@ehBeth,
OK Wassau..........get this magazine when Beth is done.........or better yet, read over her shoulder and make me that Italian sausage tray bake for lunch and then.........virtually speaking, I'll have the Chocolate Hazelnut cheesecake, with a crust made of digestive biscuits.......of all things. But make it now because I want it with the "fridge chill" that makes it so much more tasty. Thanks Beth and thanks Wassau, you magical guy.
