@vonny,
Goldfish and shubunkin.

No Koi...they really need a bit more heat than I am able to provide in order to winter out.

I wasn't aware they grew that far north. When do you harvest them?

When they are ripe, of course. Or when they are ripe on the course.

Anyway, Ti, I've got a major moss problem over by the pond...and this photo (that I took this morning) shows it big time. Gotta be careful with what I use to treat it. I did some work one year and killed off a bunch of fish because of wind driving stuff into the pond.

@Frank Apisa,
I saw the photo of the pond. Are you pissing in the pond to try and kill the moss?

Thanks Lola... that's all Greek to me. Laughing
I delegate the wine decisions to Jaz.

Do you ever invite musicians in this joint Wassau?
I have a recommendation: The Avett Brothers from North Carolina

@MattDavis,
k

can I offer you some dirty rice? it's tasty. I added hot sauce - you can eat from the side with or without the heat. It's veggie.

it really looks amazingly like this version I found online

@ehBeth,
Dirty rice does not ring my bell, but Zatarain's Red Beans with Rice is like the nectar of the Gods. I do tend to add some Goya Beans in Sauce to the mixture...but talk about a side dish! This is a winner.

Does Wassau serve Asian pears with feta cheese? Had a very bland meal earlier - fancy something light with a bit of flavour!

It's amazing. I take all that trouble to explain that beer in pubs is not over-priced and without feeling the slightest need to refute anything of my argument it is still asserted that it is over-priced and that I am a sucker for paying it. It's hard to credit. I'm at a loss to understand how such things can be put up with. It must be disorienting to anybody who needs to take it seriously.

And I only mentioned two of the advantages of pubs. There are many others. A farmer I know in the pub allows me to pick his damson trees clean of fruit from which is made a whole year's supply of the best jam there is on this whole earth. Fresh real free range eggs are to hand most of the time. Repair men for various household appliances will turn out for me on a phone call and ask for " a drink" in return. A ton or two of cow-**** are there on request. No charge. Millions meet their wives in pubs. Millions meet their husbands in pubs. Gossip is swapped and neighbourliness and conviviality are rife.

Pubs are the last bastion of freedom. I have a great deal of beer I have brewed myself at 35 pence a pint. But the price is its only advantage.

The idea that beer in pubs is overpriced is patently ridiculous and anybody who asserts that it is is patently stupid.

Really? Understandable to me...because you seem to be at a loss to understand lots of things. Perhaps it is a function of your ability to understand.

Wow...a cliche' "patently" followed by another cliche' "patently" in just one sentence. You usually do better than that, Spendius...you must be tired...or under the influence of too much of overpriced beer.

@spendius,
I was going to give you a "thumbs-up" on that post, Spendi. Until I read that last patently petulant sentence.
