We have an advertisement on TV here that has inspirational messages flashed on the screen and then a pot of yoghurt comes up. One of the messages says:
'Every one should have one old love they can imagine going back to'
I have one I can imagine going back to, does anyone else?
A Yes or No is sufficient, although you are more than welcome to elaborate!
Absolutely < musing and quietly humming a few bars of "The Way We Were">
Yes but fate has turned me another direction.
Yes...and Yes......And there's a special song that triggers thoughts of each one.

Anyone else have that song thing?
This is the song my lost love sang to me during our last conversation.
Your So Vain by Carly Simon
You walked into the party
Like you were walking onto a yacht
Your hat strategically dipped below one eye
Your scarf it was apricot
You had one eye in the mirror
As you watched yourself gavotte
And all the girls dreamed that they'd be your partner
They'd be your partner, and
You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain
I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you? Don't you?
You had me several years ago
When I was still quite naive
Well, you said that we made such a pretty pair
And that you would never leave
But you gave away the things you loved
And one of them was me
I had some dreams they were clouds in my coffee
Clouds in my coffee, and
You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain
I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you? Don't you?
I had some dreams they were clouds in my coffee
Clouds in my coffee, and
You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain
I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you? Don't you?
Well, I hear you went up to Saratoga
And your horse naturally won
Then you flew your Lear jet up to Nova Scotia
To see the total eclipse of the sun
Well, you're where you should be all the time
And when you're not, you're with
Some underworld spy or the wife of a close friend
Wife of a close friend, and
You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain
I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you? Don't you?
Yes to the song thing!
Joanne - Youve got to be joking! Someone sung you that?
About the song thing; I wonder if my wife notices my eyes glazing over, or whatever they must do when I hear one of my two songs.
Wish I was kidding, what a way to really end a relationship. It had just been released and I had not really heard it yet. Later when I did I was devestated until I read the Carly wrote it about Mick Jagger and then I didn't feel quite so bad. But still it was a rough break for me.
BTW, I used to hear,"You're So Vain," and think, "I don't recall meeting Carly Simon."
Hmmm... yeah, I'd still consider going back with one of them... we're still good friends.
Heck no. Usually there's a reason why exes are exes, you know?
I'm going to take a chance here, and say, eoe, is relatively young, and hasn't had time to let those images get distorted.
Through the years, I occasionally thought so. About five years ago I ran into him and--yuck! Can't remember who does the country song 'Thank God For Unanswered Prayers.' Those were my exact feelings after meeting up with him again after 20 years. Since we are both now 'spouseless', he suggested dinner some evening--I politely declined.
aaaaawww, I've seen my ex as friends several times in the last couple of years. He's still acutie. We'd still prolly want to kill eachother, but that might be fun. But, alas, he's in another state and now has a kick-ass girlfriend.
I'm tickled, booman, at the very thought of being mistaken as a niave young thing but I've been around for over forty years now, been around the block more times than I even want to remember and believe me, my old relationships were distorted enough while I was in them. No need to get all goo-goo eyed about them now.
But thanks for the thought. tee-hee
O-ookay....I mistook your realism for naivete'.
Yes, and know, and I mean know. I would in my heart go back, but not in my soul.
This isn't a political thread is it?
I should add that in my case. I actually had two wonderful mates, but I was full of myself and uncomprimising. Then in middle age, I settled. So my distortion was my early estimate of my self worth.
Focus Mikey...focus........Or pass the stout.
