Eve was tempted by 'the serpent.' Nowhere in Genesis is this serpent positively identified as Satan. The curse God puts upon this serpent -- "he will bruise you in the head and you will bruise him in the heel" -- is a curse placed on a snake, not a fallen angel, which is what the faithful say that Satan is.
