Regarding alcohol, it's hard to keep up with conventional medical wisdom. Is seems current belief is that moderate amounts of alcohol help protect against heart disease and stroke, while drinking too much will increase blood pressure. So one drink per day is perhaps a good thing?

@firefly,

For decades it was hypertension this, hypertension that; hypertension bad; hold it down whatever else. Then all at once high blood pressure is good

My nephrologist

It is remarkable however, Fly, the parallel between your case and mine, and thank you for that report

You must understand I was being a little facetious, but only I do find it remarkable that the day my docs shifted me onto the new kid meds, my bp suddenly increased from 120 to 160

@dalehileman,
Instead of blaming The System, you might consider that recent studies have shown (I don't know but probably a good guess) that for some patients with certain problems, increased pressure in a specific range is actually helpful.

At least this one isn't Mac's fault.

Yes I understand that, I exaggerate a bit from time to time though many take me too seriously

However as I mentioned, what has me going is its suddenness

Somehow I'll find a way to show that it is

@dalehileman,
I'm not sure I believe that list (the one shown that is now gone).

But, in the meantime, walk.
(I should do that more too.)

Oranges and bananas are "bad stuff"? Beans?

Who is this "doc," Doctor Kevorkian?

@ossobuco,
Ok, it looks like Dal has a nephrology specialist re his health. We are not best ready for saying what he should eat or sip.
And Dale should listen to the specialist, not someone of us on an online information thread.

If you mean my list in posting #….234 above it's quite legitimate

But I'm not quite sure what you mean by "now gone"

That's one thing about 2.5 acres, you're forced to hike a little once in a while if for no other reason to check on your watering systems

@Ticomaya,
Well, the list said dried beans. Now, what do you suppose would happen if you ate a bait of dried beans, and followed them with a glass of water. You'd POP, now wouldn't you.

@aidanbertie,
Reduce your stress level, avoid fatty and high cholesterol food, as well as exercise daily.

@aidanbertie,
I've heard it said, almost like a mantra: More fiber, less food.

Maybe I'll give it a try someday. Maybe someday, they'll GM a high fiber potatoe.
