errrrr, no hot cocoa at night, either. It's got a loada caffeine in it.

I always found that doing crossword puzzles helped me decompress if I was too wound up to sleep. That, and reading appliance catalogues. 5 pages of kettles can make most people drowsy.

I find that I sleep better now that I don't really watch t.v. anymore. Listening to documentary radio makes me think more, which helps wear out my brain.

Brand X - less so now that I have a regular job. I rarely have a hard time going to sleep when I need to.

Crosswords have a similar effect on me. I had to stop doing themat night, because I trained my mind the wrong way - I started falling asleep everytime I picked up a crossword.

I take care of kids and having a good 8 hours of sleep is crucial to not snapping on the little critters.

Maybe it's just bad timing on my part...

Aside from my thread hijacking...

I really have no sleeping solutions since I never have trouble in that regard unless, ironically, I'm totally exhausted from mtn. biking.

In that case I just rest until sleep finally arrives.

I rarely have trouble sleeping either. I too can get over-tired. Oddly, sometimes a little shot of coffee can help me sleep at times like those. Very very rarely I get stressed out and even then I only lose sleep if I have too much on my mind - that's when I make lists!

Now, my nightly wind-down begins.... solitaire, a wonder-sleeping-aid....

I went through years of insomnia spells-it blows really.
There are so many different things you can do, and each one either works for you, or doesnt so, Id say try each.
I found I had to personally get to a point where I was forcing myself not to race around, have the brain going and going unable to stop--thats not easy for everyone.
I like the ideas so far.
Is there anything other than your brain keeping you up? Is your brain simply making lists or are you worried on things of life to a point that it keeps you up? Are you getting enough exercise during the day to be tired at night time?
So many questions, hard to say what will work for you really.
Good Luck--try Solitare.

Does chamomile tea really work? I don't have much experience with tea because I've never liked the taste. [I do make some really nice fruit and herbal teas (my own recipes) for family members when they aren't feeling well.] I decided to have a cup of organic chamomile this morning because I'm feeling stressy and wanted to see if it would actually help. Now I feel relaxed and almost sleepy! Is it the tea or a placebo effect?

I accidentally found a sure fire method of getting to sleep. I discovered talking books! Very Happy I'd put a disk on, turn off the bed light, fully intending to listen to the recorded story. But without fail I'd fall asleep before the tape was finished, no matter how much I tried to stay awake. I figure it was simply the distraction from my own (very busy! Rolling Eyes ) thoughts that did the trick. Try it! Very Happy
