when we're asked our favorite movie, we tend to answer with one we think is "the best": the most intelligent, the most dramatic, the most riviting, etc.

But if you think about it, those movies we've seen 50-100 times (or more, for some of us) ... THOSE are our favorite movies.

Wonderful point.

Mine are:

Dirty Dancing
Sixteen Candles
National Lampoon's Vacation
Pretty in Pink
The Breakfast Club
Revenge of the Nerds
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Scarface
Weird Science

All of these are extremely nostalgic and comforting for me. I fall asleep to movies at night, and at least 5 out of 7 nights, my movie of choice is one of the aforementioned.

I'm sure I've forgotten some, but these are in my rotation of "fall asleep" movies.

I'm not sure that using movies as a sleeping pill is too complimentary to the filmmakers. Laughing

Good point Lightwizard!
Though I have to confess that I do the same. My husband and I often used to put one of the LOTR movies in...it was like a bedtime story being read to us.
We don't have a tv in the bedroom anymore so that is a habit that we managed to break....now we both just read LOTR Razz

LOL...Good point.

But it is sort of a flattering, though. I mean, if I'm watching a movie, more often than not, part of the movie gets incorporated into my dream. Sacrificing my dream to some filmmaker's movie is the ultimate compliment...sort of...lol...

Saw one last night that I can watch over and over, "The Natural", I love baseball movies, have no idea why, cause the game is usually boring.

I did see "The Natural" once. Maybe I should have another look.

What did you think of "Field of Dreams" ? It is DEFINITELY not a 'baseball movie' ... if you saw it, you will understand.

Please respond. Thanks.

I love "The Natural" as well altho' baseball doesn't appeal to me at all. And "Bull Durham". Both movies are in our library, on vhs and dvd.

Has anyone mentioned "Jeremiah Johnson", another Redford film?

olidude, welcome to A2K. Ford is making a fourth with Harrison Ford. Let's hope that isn't a mistake.

I love the film 'A Star Is Born' with Barbara Steisand and Kris Kristopherson. I love the story and the music. It's a tearjerker but I love it! For laughs, I love the movie Airplane! and Young Frankenstein.

From what I can think of right now:

The Truman Show (good movie, Carrey can act in serious roles)
Back to the Future I (and maybe II and III...)
The Emperor's New Groove (hilarious)
Johnny English (mostly funny, good replay value)
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (best musical I've seen)
Fist of Legend (great fight scenes)
Rush Hour (fun and entertaining movie)
Run Lola Run (it's artistically intriguing, and good pace)
